Minister Yılmaz Tunç Met with Üsküdar University Community
At the event held in the South Campus Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall, Tunç delivered important messages to young people through his own life story, and made evaluations on justice, career planning, and social reconciliation.
The event drew significant interest from academics and students.
“The Goal is to Do Our Best Where We Are”
Answering a question about his career journey, Tunç drew attention to the importance of process-oriented work instead of a goal-oriented approach. Tunç said: “While going through these stages, I didn't think, 'How do I reach the next level?' but rather, 'How can I perform my current duty in the best possible way?' The goal is to do our best where we are. The stage after doing your best will naturally come.”
“One Must Not Despair”
Tunç, who also shared the difficulties he faced in his education life, said: “One must not despair. There might be those who push young people into pessimism, those who say, 'you won't amount to anything.' Absolutely do not pay attention to them. What you need to do right now is to finish your current department in the best possible way.”
“Without Knowledge, We Cannot Get Anywhere”
Tunç emphasized that success is not limited to academic education alone, and pointed to the importance of versatile development. Tunç stated: “Just studying is not enough; one needs to read and develop oneself in different fields. One should benefit from technology but not become its slave. Without knowledge, we cannot get anywhere.”
“Minor Disputes Can Be Resolved Without Going to Court”
In the talk, Tunç also made evaluations regarding the justice system, and stated that the culture of social reconciliation should be strengthened. Tunç said: “Resolving everything in court both increases the workload and complicates processes. Methods like mediation serve social peace and ensure faster resolution of disputes.”
Established One-on-One Communication with Youth
Throughout the program, Tunç engaged in an interactive dialogue with students, inspiring young people by sharing excerpts from his own life story. Tunç, who recounted his career path from his education in a village to law school, from lawyer to politics, emphasized the importance of perseverance, patience, and hard work.
The highly attended talk concluded after students' questions were answered.
Tunç Visited Rector Güngör and Prof. Kaynak in Their Offices
Minister Tunç, within the scope of the program, visited Rector of Üsküdar University, Prof. Nazife Güngör, and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Deniz Ülke Kaynak, in their offices.
During the visit, Rector's Advisor Halide İncekara, Secretary General Asil Barış Bağ, and academics also met with Tunç.
During the meeting, academia was discussed in the context of law, democracy, and human rights. Mutual evaluations were made on topics such as strengthening young people's consciousness of justice and the culture of social reconciliation in Turkey.
Yılmaz Tunç stated that contacts established with universities are of great importance for direct communication with young people, and expressed his satisfaction at being in an academic environment.
