Excitement at the Midwifery Department Oath Ceremony

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Health Sciences Midwifery Department senior students experienced the pride of completing their education. Students, who successfully presented their projects prepared within the scope of graduation, took their professional oaths at the ceremony. Head of Midwifery Department Prof. Dr. Güler Cimete drew attention to the importance of research in the field of health.

The program, held at Üsküdar Üniversitesi NP Health Campus İbni Sina Auditorium, was attended by Faculty of Health Sciences Vice Dean Asst. Prof. Dr. Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan, Head of Midwifery Department Prof. Dr. Güler Cimete, Deputy Head of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayça Demir Yıldırım, as well as academicians, students, and guests.

Prof. Dr. Güler Cimete: “One of the most important roles of our profession is research”

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Health Sciences Head of Midwifery Department Prof. Dr. Güler Cimete delivered the opening speech of the program. Drawing attention to the importance of research in the field of health, Cimete stated that research plays a fundamental role in increasing evidence-based practices and quality of care in disciplines such as midwifery. Cimete said; “Each of you has done very valuable work and put in effort. You have produced scientific knowledge and will contribute to the fields of health and midwifery. One of the most important roles of our profession is research. You start learning this role from the first day you step into education. Rapidly reflecting the results of completed research into practice will enable you to adapt to the changing society and provide the midwifery services society needs. Therefore, the current production and field use of scientific knowledge is extremely valuable.”

Following the ceremony, students presented their graduation projects. 

The projects that drew attention with the work prepared under the supervision of their academic advisors are as follows:

•    İlayda Kavak and Sude Nazlıcan Yılmaz, under the advisorship of Prof. Dr. Güler Cimete, with “The Effect of Families’ Poverty Status and Mothers’ Perception of Poverty on the Growth and Development of Children Aged 1-6”

•    Melisa Gül and İclal Elif Erdoğan, under the advisorship of Asst. Prof. Dr. Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan, with “The Effect of Artificial Intelligence-Supported Birth Preparation Training on Pregnant Women's Fear of Childbirth and Birth Mode Preferences”

•    Esra Köycü and Semra Sarıkaya, under the advisorship of Asst. Prof. Dr. Günay Arslan, with “The Effect of Video-Based Training on Protecting Newborns from Noise on Parental Knowledge and Practices”

•    Neslihan Kesler, under the advisorship of Asst. Prof. Dr. Arzu Akdemir, with “The Relationship Between Psychological Resilience and Menstruation Symptoms in Women of Reproductive Age”

•    Naime Acar and Beyzanur Akalan, under the advisorship of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayça Demir Yıldırım, with “The Effect of Pregnant Women’s Climate Change Anxiety Levels on Anxiety States, Environmental Attitudes, and Carbon Footprint”

•    Ebru Aktaş and Zeynep Erdoğan, under the advisorship of Lecturer Meryem Koçaslan Toran, with “The Effect of Perceived Pain Burden, Stress, and Social Support on Drug Misuse in Women with Chronic Pain”

•    İrem Erkal and Sena Töreyir, under the advisorship of Lecturer Şerife Kelle, with “Examination of Patient Advocacy and Submissive Behaviors in Midwives and Nurses: A Cross-Sectional Study”

•    Serranur Atmaca and Zeynep Köksaldı, under the advisorship of Lecturer Didem Kurap Öcebe, presented their projects on “Examining the Relationship Between Parental Vaccine Hesitancy and Social Media Trust.” 

Emotional Moments with Music Recital and Oath Ceremony

Following the project presentations, the music recital organized under the leadership of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayça Demir Yıldırım provided pleasant moments for the participants.

At the event, graduate students, accompanied by Asst. Prof. Dr. Günay Arslan from the Midwifery Department, collectively recited the Midwifery Oath, symbolizing their professional responsibilities and ethical principles. The enthusiastic program concluded with a group photo session.
