The monthly communication seminar, jointly organized by Üsküdar Üniversitesi's Conscience of the Age Club and the Risale-i Nur Enstitüsü, took place face-to-face with the participation of Researcher Writer Metin Karabaşoğlu.
In the seminar held at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Central Campus Aziz Sancar Conference Hall, Karabaşoğlu drew attention to the concepts of transmission and communication and made important sharing.
Metin Karabaşoğlu: “Many speak, few converse, and almost none truly connect”
Emphasizing that the most beautiful communication occurs between people who speak sincerely and listen intently, Researcher Writer Metin Karabaşoğlu said; “With words thrown in one's face, transmission happens, but not communication. Communication is achieved through words that fall from the ear to the mind and descend into the heart. The most beautiful communication occurs between people who speak sincerely and listen intently. Many speak, few converse, and almost none truly connect. Many explain, few understand, and almost none agree. Many talk, but no one listens. There is transmission, but no communication. Mouths are big, but ears are tiny… Our problem is not just a lack of attention. We also have a problem of 'rikkat' (tenderness/compassion). In conversations devoid of love, respect, compassion, and the self-reflection of 'am I speaking to the right person, at the right time, with the right tone?', there is a problem of 'rikkat' beyond mere inattention.”
The event concluded with the presentation of a sapling certificate planted in Metin Karabaşoğlu's name.
