Üsküdar University's 2024-2025 Academic General Assembly Meetings for the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences were held. The meeting, attended by the academic staff, discussed academic studies and necessary steps to enhance them.
The Academic Board Meeting was held at the Faculty of Health Sciences İbni Sina Auditorium.
The meeting was attended by Üsküdar University Founding Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Assoc. Dr. Barış Karabulut, as well as academicians and students.
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan: "If there's a university, there must also be projects"
Üsküdar University Founding Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, offering recommendations for improving education at the university, reminded that healthy relationships should be established with students. Tarhan stated: "When students like their instructor, they show more interest in the lesson. For them to love the lesson, the instructor needs to love the student. If healthy relationships can be established with students, we can educate higher quality students. We have made significant progress in R&D. We were able to get all the labels and enter the rankings among 500 universities. If there is a university, there must also be projects; it should not just be an institution that provides education."
Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak: "Üsküdar University is a university that values innovation in every field"
Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak drew attention to the importance given to innovation. Koçak said: "Üsküdar University is a university open to development and values innovation in every field. People who visit our university really like it here. With our academic staff, classrooms, laboratories, and the research we conduct, we strive to provide the best education to our students."
Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur: "We strive to maintain the highest level of quality in education"
Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur spoke at the Academic Board meeting. Sur stated: "We strive to maintain the highest level of quality in education. Our strong faculty résumés enhance our desirability. Our international student count is steadily increasing. We have entered a period of contributing to our university on an international scale. We are a university recognized in many countries. Last year, 6 students came from Italy through our Erasmus mobility program. They successfully completed their education and returned to their countries."
Prof. Dr. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin: "Our faculty has a young, dynamic, and promising staff"
Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin highlighted the increasing international application and acceptance rates at the board meeting. He said: "Our faculty has a young, dynamic, and promising staff. We have collaborations with other universities and healthcare institutions. Within the faculty, our national and international application and acceptance rates are high. Our double major and minor opportunities are good, and we offer options and support to our students in this regard. The current number of laboratories within our faculty should be evaluated according to needs and reconsidered in light of modern understanding."
Assoc. Dr. Barış Karabulut: "Our dental hospital is our biggest advantage..."
Faculty of Dentistry Vice Dean Assoc. Dr. Barış Karabulut spoke about the faculty's development and advantages. Karabulut said: "The Faculty of Dentistry is our university's newest faculty. We have a well-developed dental hospital, which is our biggest advantage. Our central location facilitates transportation for our students. Our students' success in the TUS exam will also increase our university's appeal in the future. Our university has also become a focal point for international students."
