Students of Üsküdar Üniversitesi Health Services Vocational School (SHMYO) Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Program conducted an important technical trip focusing on environmental awareness and sustainability. During the trip, organized with the accompaniment of Program Head Dr. Lecturer Tuğba Kaman, students visited the ‘İSTAÇ Compost Recovery Facility’ and the ‘Biomethanization Facility’. Within this scope, students had the opportunity to gain on-site information about the recovery of organic waste through environmentally friendly methods, compost production processes, and biomethanization technologies.

Within the scope of the trip organized at İSTAÇ, students had the opportunity to observe their theoretical knowledge in the field.
Emphasis on circular economy and sustainable agriculture
Within the scope of the technical trip, students discussed the role of plant waste in the circular economy, sustainable agricultural practices, and renewable energy production processes. During the briefings given by experts, current practices for the efficient use of natural resources and the reduction of environmental impacts were shared.
Organic waste examined with environmentally friendly methods
Additionally, they received on-site information from officials regarding the recovery of organic and plant waste through environmentally friendly methods, compost production processes, and biomethanization technologies. Processes ranging from waste separation to energy and fertilizer production were explained.
Professional awareness and environmental consciousness developed…
Especially for students studying in the field of medicinal and aromatic plants, topics such as the life cycle of plant raw materials, waste management, and environmental sustainability created significant awareness.
Thanks to the technical trip, students also developed their professional perspectives on environmental awareness, sustainable production, and green transformation.
