Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services Medical Laboratory Techniques Program students met at the 2nd Meeting Symposium of the “Medical Laboratory Professionals and Phlebotomy” Association, accompanied by Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Ömer Faruk Karasakal, Assistant Director of VSHS and Head of Medical Laboratory Techniques Program, and Lecturer Songül Türk Aydın.
On the first day of the symposium, presentations were held under the title “Introduction to Laboratory Practices,” covering laboratory test processes, test reagent usage instructions, microbiological culture test processes, laboratory communication, basic PCR methodology, and the current status of Covid-19 diagnostic tests. On the second day of the symposium, practices carried out in medical laboratories were explained to the students.
In his evaluation, Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Karasakal stated: “Such professional symposiums contribute to the development of students studying in the medical laboratory techniques program and provide them with the opportunity to listen to different experts in the sector.” Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Karasakal also mentioned that laboratory firms from the sector participated, creating opportunities for students to network. He expressed particular happiness that graduates from Üsküdar University were working in some of the participating laboratory firms.
Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Karasakal emphasized that as the VSHS Medical Laboratory Techniques Program, they always follow similar organizations and will continue to participate with students.
