The “Management Systems in Occupational Health and Safety” event was held by the Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health Services Occupational Health and Safety Program and the Faculty of Health Sciences Occupational Health and Safety (SBLİSG) Club. Erhan Anbarcı, Chief Auditor of OHS Management Systems, attended the event as a guest.
The event, held at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Çarşı Campus Yuşa Conference Hall, saw a high attendance from students. Dr. Rüştü Uçan, Head of the Occupational Health and Safety Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr. Gamze Kağan, Head of the Occupational Health and Safety Program at the Vocational School of Health Services, and Assoc. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay, a faculty member from the Faculty of Health Sciences, attended the event.
Dr. Gamze Kağan: “We will continue these kinds of events”
Dr. Gamze Kağan, Head of the Occupational Health and Safety Program at the Vocational School of Health Services, stated that they will continue to bring students together with expert professionals from the sector. Kağan said; “We are holding the first program of the Occupational Health and Safety program in the 2022-2023 fall semester. This program is specifically for Occupational Health and Safety, and we will continue to bring our students together with experts from the sector. The event is a joint effort with the Occupational Health and Safety associate degree program and the SBLİSG student club. We will continue these kinds of events. Welcome everyone.”
Erhan Anbarcı: “Employees are happier when they feel safe”
Erhan Anbarcı, Chief Auditor of OHS Management Systems, informed the students about management systems; “A management system is a proven framework for organizations to manage and continuously improve their principles, procedures, and activities. For an effective management system to be implemented, management must demonstrate leadership and commitment. In OHS management systems, risks are divided into organizational and operational risks. Every clause of the standard mentions employee participation. The standard states that even when writing policies, employee opinions should be sought. If there is a problem, you need to solve the root cause. When solving the root cause, employee opinions must again be taken into account. Employees are happier when they feel safe.”
“Certificates are a golden bracelet”
Anbarcı, mentioning the great importance of obtaining certificates for one's professional life, said; “The ISO 45001:2018 OHS management system certificate is important. Knowing these will greatly benefit you when looking for a job. You must get training on the 45001 standard because it's impossible not to encounter them in your professional life. The work we do is a bit different. This is a golden bracelet. I put on this bracelet in my time and advanced my career from there.”
After answering participants' questions, a plaque was presented to Erhan Anbarcı by the SBLİSG Club.
