Üsküdar Üniversitesi Haydi Tut Elimi Association's 2021 Annual General Assembly Meeting and Award Ceremony hosted an unforgettable moment. Davut Bozkurt, a donor of the Haydi Tut Elimi Association, personally delivered to Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan a letter he had penned to him exactly 16 years ago. Bozkurt's meaningful speech was listened to with great interest.
'Being at Peace with Yourself' is a book of great importance in my life…
Davut Bozkurt expressed his feelings by sharing a part of the letter he wrote 16 years ago with Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan in the presence of the participants. Bozkurt emphasized that Prof. Dr. Tarhan's book 'Being at Peace with Yourself' holds great importance in his life, and summarized the sentiments in the letter, which reflected his feelings after reading the book, as follows; “The reason I want to communicate with you is your book, ‘Being at Peace with Yourself,’ which I haven’t been able to put down since I got it, and in every line, I find something of myself. The purpose of writing this is simply to convey my endless thanks and respect to you, and if you deem it appropriate, I wish to meet you. I want to tell you a little about myself because then I will be able to explain why this book affected me so much.” he stated.
“We understand your importance even more”
Bozkurt stated that he was able to deliver the letter to Prof. Dr. Tarhan 16 years later, saying; “We were never able to deliver that letter to our professor, but today, God willing, we will. I worked at a university for nearly 18 years. In the past, due to a friend's suicide in the dormitory, I wanted to transfer to the Ministry of Family. After overcoming years of bureaucracy, I transferred to the Ministry of Family. Before moving to the Ministry, my dream was always to activate the Post-Care Guidance and Monitoring Unit. Because our youth fall into a void as role models after they turn 18, and I wanted to help them. In my first or second month, Ali Fuat Bey, the Provincial Deputy Director responsible for Children's Services, called me and said he would give my number to Ms. Banu from Üsküdar Üniversitesi Haydi Tut Elimi Association, that they were very good people, and wanted me to meet them. Indeed, after that day, I met our professor Nevzat. It's clear that you are doing good things, and I am a witness to it. I directed hundreds of people to Ms. Banu and Ms. Hayriye. So many beautiful things are happening; the best part is the crying tones on the phone and our emotional conversations when you help children. These are very exciting. At this point, we understand your importance even more. On my own behalf and on behalf of our siblings staying in dormitories, I thank you all.” he stated.
