The 'Sociology of Daily Life' series, planned to be held in the 2022-2023 Academic Year in cooperation with Üsküdar Üniversitesi Sociology Club and Sociology Department, continues with the documentary event titled “Kimsesizler Oteli.” After the screening of the documentary, directed by Rıdvan Karaman, who also directs short films and theater plays, the issue of homelessness was discussed from an academic perspective. The event attracted significant interest from academics and students.

The event, held in the South Campus Socrates Hall, was attended by Prof. Dr. Barış Erdoğan, Head of the Sociology Department and Head of the Sociology Master's Program; Prof. Dr. Hıdır İlyas Göz, Head of the Psychology Doctoral Program at the Psychology Department; and Research Assistants Bengi Çakmak and Berat Dağ from the Sociology Department as speakers.
In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Barış Erdoğan emphasized that psychological, sociological, economic, and political aspects are effective in the process of individuals becoming homeless.

Prof. Dr. Hıdır İlyas Göz pointed out that a psychological perspective can also be taken towards homeless individuals. Prof. Dr. Göz stated that “every interaction an individual engages in, regardless of whether it is positive or negative, is decisive in the process of mental and behavioral development.”
Research Assistant Berat Dağ stated that homeless individuals, by existing without alienation, construct a meaningful intellectual position on the baseless and uncertain change of the past, present, and future. Dağ added that “by bringing up the experiences of the homeless in Latin America, it is also meaningful to question why the homeless in Turkey have not taken action to build a unique space that would concretize this meaningful position.”
Research Assistant Bengi Çakmak, on the other hand, emphasized that the issue of homelessness should not be reduced solely to a family problem, and that it is important to consider what alternative existence possibilities homeless individuals might have.
The event concluded after participants' questions were answered.
