The 16th International Agricultural Symposium (AGROSYM 2025) was held between October 2–5 in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Researchers from Üsküdar Üniversitesi's Transgenic Cell Technologies and Epigenetics Application and Research Center (TRGENMER) drew the attention of the scientific community at the symposium with their CRISPR-based cotton project.

International Interest in CRISPR-based Cotton Project

The event was attended by TRGENMER Director Dr. Cihan Taştan, TRGENMER R&D Manager Beyza Aydın, and Plant Biotechnology Laboratory master's students Buse Kaptan, Dilara Ülker, and Naz Ceren Ünal.
Paper Presentation Made at the Symposium
Researchers from Üsküdar presented a paper at the symposium titled “Targeted Mutagenesis in Different Cotton Cultivars (Gossypium Hirsutum L.) to Improve Fiber Quality Through CRISPR-Based Genome Engineering.”
As part of university-industry collaboration, Aster Tekstil, which supports the project, contributed to the symposium by sponsoring the researchers.
The Project Was Met With Interest
Master's students Dilara Ülker and Naz Ceren Ünal shared the latest findings and data regarding the Aster Cotton project through an oral presentation.
The presentation, which garnered significant interest from participants, received positive feedback.

TRGENMER's Scientific Studies are Progressing…
Contacts established with academics from different countries during the symposium created important opportunities for new collaborations. The project's promotion on an international platform also highlighted TRGENMER's progress in scientific studies and Turkey's development in the fields of agriculture and biotechnology.
