Interest in software, computer, and artificial intelligence engineering increased

The 2022 YKS placement results were announced on August 15, 2022. Experts noted that this year's preference trends differed from previous years, stating that preferences for medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy departments decreased, while preferences for software, computer, artificial intelligence engineering, and departments without a threshold success ranking such as management information systems, mathematics, and statistics increased. Experts also reminded candidates who could not be placed in any department or program about the additional placement opportunity.

Preference Trends Decreased in Health Fields

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Education Institutions and Guidance Services Manager, Expert Psychologist Counselor Ece Tözeniş, evaluated the 2022 YKS placement results and the subsequent process.

2022 Became the Year with the Most Exam Applications

Manager Expert Psychologist Counselor Ece Tözeniş reminded that the 2022 YKS placement results were announced on August 15, 2022, stating, “This year, unlike previous years, with the removal of threshold scores, it was the year with the most exam applications.”

Over 2 Million Candidates Made Preferences

Manager Expert Psychologist Counselor Ece Tözeniş stated that out of 2,911,511 candidates whose placement scores were calculated, 2,138,050 made preferences, adding, “Among the candidates who made preferences, 850,631 candidates were placed in formal education programs, and 154,859 candidates were placed in open education programs. After the placements, 99% of university quotas were filled, excluding TRNC universities, and the number of empty quotas, which was around 164,000 last year, decreased to 13,000 this year.”

Preference Trend Decreased in Health-Related Departments

Ece Tözeniş noted that this year's preference trends also differed from previous years, stating, “While preferences for medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy departments decreased, we observed an increase in preferences for software, computer, artificial intelligence engineering, and departments without a threshold success ranking such as management information systems, mathematics, and statistics.”

Manager Expert Psychologist Counselor Ece Tözeniş noted that the university registrations for placed students would take place between August 22-26, 2022, and electronic registrations between August 22-24, 2022.

Tözeniş stated that after the registrations are completed, universities would send their remaining empty quotas after the initial placement and registration to ÖSYM, and students would be able to make their choices after the additional placement guide is published.

Important Reminders Regarding Additional Placement!

Manager Expert Psychologist Counselor Ece Tözeniş also made a few reminders regarding additional placement preferences:

To be able to make preferences in additional placement, one must not have been placed in any higher education program during the 2022-YKS central placement.

Candidates who have been placed in a higher education program through the 2022-YKS special talent exam will also be able to make preferences for additional placement.

If there are no changes during the 2022-Additional Quota period, as in previous years, associate and undergraduate programs whose quotas were filled in central placement and had a minimum base score, but where a quota gap arose due to a few placed individuals not registering, can be preferred by candidates who have a score equal to or greater than the minimum score of the relevant program's score type. Programs whose quotas were not filled and for which a minimum score was not formed can be preferred by all candidates whose relevant placement score has been calculated.

Candidates must meet the conditions of these programs to include them among their higher education program preferences.

During the additional placement process, you can also create your preferences by carefully reviewing the guide.
