Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan: “These studies are very important for reaching new goals”
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, emphasized that this collaboration would make significant contributions to both parties. Tarhan said: “It is exciting to conduct R&D studies with Memorial. An infrastructure is needed to carry out Phase 1 studies. These studies are very important for reaching new goals for new studies worldwide. Our goal is not to compete with anyone in Turkey; global competition is important. I believe our cooperation will make significant contributions to both sides. For this reason, we, as a university, thought it would be beneficial to take this step. Hopefully, it will be a good start.”
Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör: “These protocols are partnerships that will turn into concrete studies”
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör pointed out the need to support studies that will contribute to science. Güngör said: “I believe many good things will emerge with this protocol. These protocols are always partnerships that will transform into concrete studies. These institutions will serve society while also leaving their mark on the world with their valuable scientific outputs. We are scientists, so we must carry out all kinds of work that contribute to science on the broadest possible platform and with as much concrete participation as possible.”
Bora Uludüz: “Our goal is to make Turkey a global power”
Memorial Health Group CEO Bora Uludüz stated that they are working to make Turkey a global power. Uludüz said: “This protocol is the first step, but I am sure it will deepen much further. We want to grow and increase our investments in this area. Our goal is not competition within Turkey, but beyond that, to make Turkey a global power. We are very fortunate in this regard because Turkey has several prominent features: its very dense and diverse population. This is a great power in our hands. On the other hand, having a very strong medical staff on the medical side and a very strong infrastructure on the academic side are all great opportunities. Therefore, we believe we can do great things by utilizing these. That is, we see very serious opportunities in both clinical research and genetics. Growth is the financial side of the business, and that is important, but there is a much more important issue we prioritize: supporting science. The core of what we do is providing healthcare services, and we believe these studies are very valuable for the better progression of these healthcare services and for producing higher quality services. It is a great chance for us.”
Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur: “We knew we were working with a good group”
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration. Sur said: “When bridges were built between us and Memorial and these affiliation studies began, even while the work was being carried out, we knew we were working with a good group. It has become a partnership that quickly settled on a solid foundation…”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay: “This protocol will form the basis of multiple studies”
Üsküdar Üniversitesi R&D and Innovation Policies Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay expressed her happiness with the collaboration. Özay said: “As the Üsküdar Üniversitesi BRAINPARK family, I am very happy to have facilitated such a collaboration. This protocol will form the basis of multiple studies that we will carry out as Memorial and Üsküdar Üniversitesi. Since June, we have been working diligently to establish both clinical research and a laboratory. Our other professors also have studies they want to conduct in very different areas. We discussed that a new project related to addiction could be carried out…”
Prof. Dr. Tayfun Uzbay: “We have consistently prioritized science, novelty, and innovation”
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Medicine Head of Internal Medical Sciences Department Prof. Dr. Tayfun Uzbay emphasized the importance given to novelty and innovation. Uzbay said: “Üsküdar Üniversitesi is a university that has completed 10 years. During this 10-year period, we have consistently prioritized science, novelty, and innovation. They considered building a subway in New York to reduce traffic. None of those who thought of it had traveled on a subway, but the first pickaxe was struck, and today the New York subway exists and serves there. The important thing is to think, keep the horizon and goals broad, and then take action. After taking action, the rest will follow. A very significant step was taken today.”
The protocol signing ceremony concluded with a group photo session after the signatures were affixed.
