Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Industrial Engineering 4th-year students undertook application-based projects by designing innovative products that offered solutions to a problem they identified within the scope of the “Statistical Quality Control” course. Under the supervision of Dr. Lecturer Münire Berna Beşkese, the project aimed for students to gain valuable academic and professional experience by transforming their acquired knowledge into a real business process through a given budget.

The projects prepared by the students as part of their final assignment were exhibited in the Üsküdar Üniversitesi Central Campus Lobby area. At the event, students both introduced and offered their products for sale.

Made a significant contribution to the applied education model
Statistical Quality Control, one of the compulsory courses, stands out for including methods for measuring, analyzing, and improving the quality of products and processes. Within the scope of the course, theoretical explanations of these methods were previously presented to students through video content, while during class hours, students were asked to apply this knowledge to a real project. This approach made a significant contribution to the applied education model, which aims to increase the retention of learned information.

Students designed their own products
Within the scope of the project, students worked in groups of 4-6 people. In the project, each student designed their own product with the given budget, creating a product that offered a solution to a problem they identified.
During this process, students had the opportunity to experience not only technical knowledge but also the fundamental stages of starting a business, such as market research, competitor analysis, cost calculation, determining quality criteria, sales forecasting, and marketing strategies.

Future competencies gained within the scope of the course
Among the primary objectives of the project was not only the effective learning of course content but also imparting the competencies highlighted in the “2025 World Economic Forum” reports to the students. In this context;
- Creativity,
- Teamwork,
- Communication,
- Skills such as leadership and problem-solving were areas actively developed by students throughout the project process.
Furthermore, the study contributed to students gaining an entrepreneurial perspective by providing a concrete example that it is possible to establish a venture even with a limited budget.
Contribution to the entrepreneurial university vision…
The realized project also aligned with Üsküdar Üniversitesi's mission to raise entrepreneurial, productive, and application-oriented young people, creating significant awareness regarding the practical application of theoretical knowledge.
