Second-year students of the Industrial Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Üsküdar University carried out a remarkable entrepreneurship-based final project within the scope of the course “Work System Analysis and Design.” In the project conducted under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Münire Berna Beşkese, students were given a budget to provide them with a real entrepreneurship experience.

The projects prepared by the students as part of their final assignments were exhibited in the lobby area of Üsküdar University Main Campus. During the event, students both introduced and sold their products.

Tarhan visited the exhibition and examined the products

President of Üsküdar University, Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan visited the exhibition and closely examined the students' works. Tarhan chatted with the students and purchased some of the products. Emphasizing that the project would be highly beneficial, Tarhan stated that young people should be supported in entrepreneurship.

Each student designed their own product

In the project, each student designed and produced their own product using the provided budget. The type, quantity, and quality of the products were entirely up to the students. During the final period, the products were put on the market through on-campus sales, and the profits were shared among the students. In this way, what could be achieved with limited resources was tested in practice.

Asst. Prof. Münire Berna Beşkese: “This was a project I had dreamed of for a long time”

Asst. Prof. Münire Berna Beşkese from the Industrial Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Üsküdar University shared the details of the project. Beşkese said that “This was a project I had dreamed of for a long time. We train engineers, but I wondered if we could do this with a different system. I know our youth are very intelligent; the important thing is to reveal this potential. The students had the opportunity to apply in the field what they learned in class. They improved their skills in teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and creativity. This project included cost calculation, design, and sales, meaning many competencies came into play simultaneously.”

Stating that the feedback from the project was quite positive, Beşkese added that further evaluations would be made regarding what the students learned from the project and how they developed personally.
