If you can't decide who to vote for

Ahead of the 2023 presidential and parliamentary elections to be held on May 14, Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, suggests undecided voters use the “political leadership” and “voter” tests from his book titled “Psychological Warfare.” Tarhan states, “The criteria published in the book facilitate decision-making. I had prepared a scale to identify the characteristics of leaders we believe will act fairly and with whom we feel safe, and published it in my book ‘Psychological Warfare.’ With the other scale, I tried to shed light on how voters can evaluate themselves. These tests can guide thousands of undecided voters who don't know which party or leader to vote for.”

Here is the voter test...

To decide who to vote for during election time and to evaluate whether you are a good voter, you can utilize the 'political leadership' and 'voter' tests found in Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan’s book 'Psychological Warfare.' These scales, prepared by Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, allow us to determine the characteristics of leaders we believe will act fairly and shed light on how voters can evaluate themselves.

Leaders can keep society together or change it in good and bad times

Tarhan points out the importance of effective leadership in all fields and makes the following evaluations regarding political leadership: “Those who are governed must know themselves and not see their leaders as shepherds. If there is an awareness of being in a business partnership with the leader, that group can move towards long-term, continuous, lasting, and productive cooperation. Leaders can keep society together or change it in good and bad times. While a good leader can lead society to great successes, a bad leader can ruin all accumulated progress. A leader who understands, listens, can discuss problems, is open to all kinds of ideas, supports, helps, and backs is rare. A leader who remembers you and values you is a true leader.”

A good leader improves communication, increases efficiency, and facilitates good decisions

Stating that the leader-society relationship should be transformed into a win-win relationship, Tarhan listed the characteristics of a good leader as follows: “We must find leaders who do not act like leaders, are open to cooperation, do not interfere in everything, can delegate tasks, can trust employees, and can communicate openly and honestly. People feel comfortable next to a leader who finds and focuses on the good aspects of others. A good leader improves communication, increases efficiency, facilitates good decisions, and produces more accurate solutions to problems. All political movements should be able to discuss everything within their own family privacy and express all their ideas to their leaders. If elders within a family are open to criticism, justice is established more easily in that family. If the goal is justice, then the method in this era is democracy. The result is the formation of a bond of trust. This is intra-party democracy. If this happens, people's trust in the leader increases, and this movement becomes not just the movement of individuals and leaders but of the entire base.

A leader who makes the future feel secure also mobilizes the sense of hope

Stating that what yields results in politics is not political successes but the love and trust of society, Tarhan said, “Whoever earns the love and trust of society gets the results. People's minds must be convinced.  Justice and freedom have the effect of increasing love and trust, and reducing fears. Therefore, whoever creates an impression of providing a sense of justice and freedom is more likely to achieve better results. If leaders build their base with such an expectation, they will alleviate fears and increase love and trust. Currently, anxiety about the future is very high in society; there is uncertainty about the future. Whoever makes the future feel secure will activate a sense of hope in society.”
I prepared a scale to determine the characteristics of trustworthy leaders
Stating that the presence of personality traits prone to violence and leadership qualities in the same person can have very serious social consequences, Tarhan said, “Leaders need attitudes that, while keeping people's hopes high, also reduce tension in society. Here, the psychology of the leader affects the psychology of the people. I had prepared a scale to determine the characteristics of leaders with whom we feel safe and published it in my book 'Psychological Warfare.' With another scale, I tried to shed light on how voters can evaluate themselves. In these scales, you can see how a person can shift their expectations from imaginary to realistic ones,” he said.

Here is the voter test

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan prepared two tests for undecided voters who don't know which party or leader to vote for during election times.

Which one is your leader?

Note: Give the score closest to your opinion. If you scored 20 points, avoid that leader. A leader scoring between 20-40 points is acceptable. If you scored above 40 points, you should now trust that leader.

Are you a good voter?

Note: Give the score closest to your opinion. If you scored below 40 points, you should improve yourself. If you don't improve yourself, please do not vote, you will make a mistake.
