Academic Board Meeting of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Communication Held

The Academic Board Meeting of Üsküdar University's 2024-2025 Academic Year Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Faculty of Communication was held. The meeting, attended by Üsküdar University Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Kaynak, also saw the participation of the academic staff. Academic studies and measures to enhance these studies were discussed during the meeting. 

The Academic Board Meeting was held at the South Campus Fuat Sezgin conference hall. 

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan: “Scientific production is a key element that will lead our university to success”

Making an evaluative speech at the Academic Board meeting, Üsküdar University Founding Rector and Head of the Executive Board Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized the importance of identifying the faculties' strengths and areas open for development. Tarhan stated; “We need to clearly define our goals in line with our vision and mission. We conduct strategic planning by performing SWOT analyses to achieve our goals. Scientific production is a key element that will lead our university to success.”

Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör: “The two faculties complement each other”

Üsküdar University Rector and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör emphasized that the Faculty of Communication and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences are built upon common values. Nazife Güngör stated, “The two faculties complement each other with the opportunities they offer and their academic richness.” Güngör also underlined the importance of faculty members focusing on projects.

Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Kaynak: “Interaction between faculties is further strengthened through joint social activities”

At the Academic Board meeting, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences made the first presentation. Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Kaynak, at the beginning of her presentation, focused on the strengths and areas open for development, as well as the threats and opportunities for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. 

Deniz Ülke Kaynak stated that the South Campus becoming a center for social sciences creates significant brand value for the university; “Interaction between faculties is further strengthened through joint social activities and courses. This situation also contributes to the enrichment of our academic staff.” 

Following Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Kaynak's speech, Dr. Nihan Kalkandeler Özdin, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, delivered a presentation providing information on the faculty's activities and student numbers.

Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan: “Our faculty has the most accredited programs”

Following Dr. Nihan Kalkandeler Özdin's presentation, Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan, Advisor to the Rector and Head of the Journalism Department, focused on the faculty's strengths and areas open for development, as well as threats and opportunities. İrvan underlined that the Faculty of Communication stands out with its applied education. 

İrvan stated; “As the Faculty of Communication, we are assertive in applied education. Our students choose our faculty for this aspect, and we prove our claim in this field with the successes we achieve in competitions. Furthermore, our faculty also holds the distinction of being the faculty with the most accredited programs.” 

Following Prof. Dr. Süleyman İrvan, Dr. Ceren Saran, Vice Dean, delivered a presentation outlining the faculty's activities and student numbers.
