Üsküdar University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Department of History successfully held its graduation project presentations in the spring semester of the 2024–2025 academic year. The Department of History, which graduated its first students in 2022, presented the graduation projects of its 4th-year students within the framework of a presentation program organized department-wide, as it does every year. In the now traditional event, students had the opportunity to gain both academic and scientific presentation practice. During the project presentations, attention was also drawn to the 'History Research Project and Management' course.

Among the academicians advising the graduation projects were Head of the History Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hadiye Yılmaz Odabaşı, Asst. Prof. Dr. Uygar Aydemir, Asst. Prof. Dr. Özgün Deniz Yoldaşlar, Research Assistant Dr. Buğra Can Bayçifci, and Research Assistant Salih Bilgin.

In the graduation projects conducted under the guidance of the advising academicians, themes such as early-modern Ottoman-European relations, discussions on military revolution, urban transformation, modernization, and gender stood out.

The works, prepared across a wide spectrum ranging from Ottoman political and social history to contemporary historiography discussions, attracted attention with their use of sources, analytical power, and original approaches. Following the presentations, faculty members and attending students offered constructive evaluations and suggestions regarding the projects.

Attention Drawn to the 'History Research Project and Management' Course

Unlike previous years, this year project proposals prepared within the scope of the 'History Research Project and Management' course for third-year students were also presented. The course, specially designed with the goal of applying to the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program, is significant as the first course opened for this purpose not only for the Department of History but also across Üsküdar University.

Through this course, students gained skills such as developing research questions, academic writing, literature review, and project planning, and had the opportunity to prepare their own research projects in accordance with the TÜBİTAK application format. Students who plan to apply to the call scheduled to open in the fall semester of 2025 also benefited from having matured their projects beforehand.

The presentation events, which align with Üsküdar University's project-oriented vision, continue to serve as an academic platform aimed at developing students' research, analysis, and communication skills.
