High School Students Practically Explored the Opticianry Profession

Within the framework of the “Education Cooperation Protocol” signed between Üsküdar University, Ümraniye District Governorship, and Ümraniye District Directorate of National Education, students from Madenciler Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School visited Üsküdar University Health Services Vocational School (SHMYO) Opticianry Program. Within the scope of the organized training, students gained theoretical and practical knowledge on eye health protection, the effects of digital screen usage, and protection methods against blue light in the workshop titled “Eye Health 101: Protecting Vision for Youth.” Students, who had the opportunity to closely examine and apply the devices in the opticianry laboratory, not only became familiar with the opticianry profession but also gained professional awareness by experiencing the university environment. 

High school students showed great interest in the training program held at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus. 

They learned how to protect eye health

In the workshop titled “Eye Health 101: Protecting Vision for Youth” held in the Opticianry Laboratory, students were provided with:

-    Information on eye health protection, 
-    The effects of digital screen usage, 
-    Theoretical and practical information on blue light and protection methods.  

They experienced the devices up close

During the workshop, students had the opportunity to closely examine and experience the practical applications of the devices used in the opticianry profession. 

They gained professional awareness

The workshop, conducted under the leadership of Opticianry Program Head Instructor Ömer Faruk Okuyucu and Asst. Prof. Naz Esin Başkan Özdemir, contributed to students gaining professional awareness and familiarizing themselves with the university environment. 

The program emphasized the importance of the opticianry profession while guiding young people in their career planning.
