Within the scope of the "Education Cooperation Protocol" signed between Üsküdar University, Ümraniye District Governorship, and Ümraniye District Directorate of National Education, students from Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School visited Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) Emergency and Disaster Management Program. In the training conducted, students were taught building evacuation, the "drop, cover, and hold on" movement, earthquake bag usage, safety harness applications, and patient transport techniques, both theoretically and practically. The program aimed for students to gain awareness while acquiring important information regarding emergency and disaster management.

High school students had the opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge with practice

In the program held at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus, high school students showed great interest in theoretical and practical training regarding emergency and disaster management.

"First Minutes in an Emergency" training was held
Within the scope of the visit, under the leadership of SHMYO Deputy Director and Head of Emergency and Disaster Management Program Instructor Esad Sadık Demirtaş, a training titled "First Minutes in an Emergency" was conducted in the Emergency and Disaster Management laboratory.
In the training, students were taught;
- Building evacuation applications,
- "Drop, cover, and hold on" movement,
- Introduction to earthquake and emergency kits,
- Full-body safety harness usage and application,
- Topics such as patient transport techniques were conveyed both theoretically and practically.
Within this scope, it was aimed to raise awareness among students about emergency and disaster management.

OHS students shared their experiences
During the training process, Muhammet Ali Salgın and Baran Kaplan, who are part of the Tulpars Search and Rescue team and are also students of the Occupational Health and Safety Program, contributed to the high school students by sharing their experiences.

SHMYO Deputy Director and Head of Emergency and Disaster Management Program Instructor Esad Sadık Demirtaş stated: "Emergencies are critical situations that can be encountered at any moment in life. In these situations, correct and conscious intervention is vital. Therefore, raising awareness across all segments of society and continuing to increase such training activities are of great importance."
