High school students closely examined the microscopic world

Within the framework of the “Education Collaboration Protocol” signed between Üsküdar University, Ümraniye District Governorship, and Ümraniye District Directorate of National Education, students from Ümraniye Cumhuriyet Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School visited the Üsküdar University Health Services Vocational School (VSHS) Laboratory Technology Program. In the workshop, students were taught the basic parts of a microscope, its working principle, and correct usage techniques, both theoretically and practically. In the applications carried out in the Routine Medical Analysis Laboratory, plant and animal cells were examined under a microscope, differences in cellular structures were observed, and comprehensive information about biological organization was gained through various tissue samples.

The training program held at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus was followed with great interest by high school students. 

Within the scope of the visit, a “Microscopic Discoveries: Prepared Slide Examination Study” event was organized. 

Basic parts of the microscope examined

The event was conducted by Head of Laboratory Technology Program Asst. Prof. Ebru Özkan Oktay. In the workshop, students were given both theoretical and practical information about the basic parts of the microscope, its working principle, and correct usage techniques.

Plant and animal cells observed in detail

In the practical training conducted at the Routine Medical Analysis Laboratory, students had the opportunity to examine plant and animal cells under a microscope. While the differences in cellular structures were observed in detail, comprehensive information about the organization of biological structures was also acquired through examinations of various tissue samples.

Observation, analysis, and interpretation skills developed

While the practical studies aimed to develop students' observation, analysis, and interpretation skills, they also aimed for students to gain awareness of the laboratory environment.
