Healthcare support from Üsküdar to Uganda

Üsküdar University continues to draw attention with its support for international healthcare projects. Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Asst. Prof. Müzeyyen Seda Altop took part in a healthcare organization held in Uganda, following similar efforts in the African countries of Burundi and Madagascar. Within the scope of an oral and dental health project carried out in cooperation with the Ugandan Ministry of Health, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), and the Association of Friends of All Africa (TADD), 1,200 patients received treatment under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Altop.

Treatment provided to 1,200 patients

Between July 19 and 31, oral and dental health treatments were delivered to 1,200 patients at Jinja Referral Hospital in the city of Jinja, Uganda.

Trainings and surgical operations conducted

Asst. Prof. Altop shared her knowledge by offering both theoretical and practical training to local doctors. She also performed maxillofacial surgical operations in collaboration with healthcare professionals in Uganda.

She previously took part in projects in Burundi and Madagascar

Asst. Prof. Müzeyyen Seda Altop had previously participated in healthcare initiatives in Burundi and Madagascar. Most recently, she contributed to the organization in Uganda.
Asst. Prof. Altop also took part in the "Burundi Oral and Dental Health" project, which was supported by the Association of Friends of All Africa (TADD) and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA). The project, hosted by the First Lady of Burundi, Angelina Ndaishimiye, and the Embassy of Burundi, received extensive coverage in national radio, TV channels, and newspapers.

Later, in Madagascar, a healthcare organization was held between September 7–20 in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Hands Giving Lives Association. As part of this initiative, doctors received training in the fields of ENT and maxillofacial surgery, and 170 patients were treated under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Altop.

Üsküdar continues to contribute to global health

Üsküdar University’s involvement in this significant project not only helped extend quality healthcare services beyond borders but also once again demonstrated the university’s commitment to global health responsibility.
