The Hair Care and Beauty Services program, newly opened this year at Üsküdar University's Vocational School of Health Services, held its first event with its inaugural students. Beauty Expert Gülbahar Turgun, Founder of EVA Cosmetics, participated in the event titled “Skin Care and Cosmetics.” At the event, which garnered significant interest, Turgun shared her professional experiences with students and offered advice. She emphasized that there is no such thing as the wrong person, only the wrong profession.
At the event held at Üsküdar University's Çarşı Campus, students' curious questions were answered. The Head of the Hair Care and Beauty Services Program, Lecturer Birgül Erbaş, also participated in the event.
“There is no wrong person, only the wrong chosen profession”
Beauty Expert Gülbahar Turgun, Founder of EVA Cosmetics, stating her belief that 90% success is achieved in a profession chosen with love; “There is no wrong person, only the wrong chosen profession. In the last 3 years, Turkey has broken records worldwide. That’s why I believe everyone here has consciously chosen this profession. If you choose your profession with love in your heart, I believe you will be 90% successful. I started this passion at the age of 12. I loved dressing up; I would never leave the house without makeup, no matter what. I would save my money and buy makeup products. If I didn't have this passion, I wouldn't be able to speak with you here. New students, young people, learn new things. Because when you look, there are almost many old things. Sometimes I get sad. I was very happy that such a department was opened at the university. Because I believe that in 2 years, you will graduate from here with a wealth of knowledge and do great things. Every profession has its difficulties. You have just started. So many problems will come your way, don't be afraid. Beautifully done procedures might look terrible, you might be criticized, but what emerges here? Self-confidence emerges. As I said earlier, if you truly love this profession from within, you will endure everything. In fact, the moment we touch someone's face, believe me, the person in front of you feels that energy.” she said.
“When one does a job they love, success comes quickly”
Turgun, who spoke about her experiences and offered advice to students; “Those in our sector are the ones who beautify the world. The concept of beauty emerged in Egypt. How many thousands of years ago? It started there. It began with making dye from coal. Even if the world collapses now, our sector will not. Why? Where there is a woman, there is beauty. Where there is beauty, there is always care. Some women come. They don't eat, they don't drink, they save their money, and they go get their beauty treatments done. And then they say; ‘Teacher, I feel like a woman again.’ They are happy about this. They argue, then they spend money on their beauty treatments. You will have all sorts of problems in life. After starting a family, we will have even more problems. At that time, as a woman, most psychologically spend money in the cosmetic and beauty fields. That's why we are in a very beautiful profession. In other words, it will be even better in 2 years. Those who do their job properly and work professionally are always the best in the industry. It is very important to believe that you are in the right position. If you have a doubt in your mind, like 'Did I come to the wrong place?', 'How will it be?', 'Can I do it?'. When that happens, you lose time. If you are meeting with me in this class, if we are all talking together, then you are on the right path. Believe me, among all chosen professions, there are very few that beautify people, provide care for people, and which I respect so deeply, both internally and externally. When a person does a job they love very much, they achieve success very quickly.” she said.
“If you look at it financially, you will struggle”
Turgun, pointing out that looking at the profession solely from a financial perspective would lead to difficulties; “In the first step, you started a physical education here, but sometimes spiritually, we also need something like this, someone's speech. Even a single sentence can sometimes change a person's life if you have a question mark in your mind. It can change your path, your route. Secondly, if you have chosen this sector financially, its name becomes trade. If you say, ‘A lot of money is made in this sector, so I will earn money from it,’ then if Turkey's financial situation collapses, you will collapse too. If it rises, you will rise too. Such a map is drawn, and when such a tiny difficulty arises, you get upset and broken. ‘I wish I hadn't chosen this, I wish I had chosen that.’ Among the students who come to me, some are forced by their mother, father, or relatives. I tell them not to choose this profession because they don't love it themselves. Not everyone has to choose the beauty sector. Perhaps if they choose something else, it would be better for them. They can choose fashion design, they can be a chef. Because we also have men among us. Recently, the need for men in our sector has been gradually increasing. It's almost equal now. Hand care and facial care have started to increase significantly among men too. Therefore, if you don't love it, if you look at it financially, you will struggle.” she stated.
