Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur: “They attract the students we train like a magnet…”
The opening speech of the dinner, organized within the scope of the cooperation, was delivered by Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Üsküdar Üniversitesi. Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur said, “I am very happy that we have come together on the occasion of this dinner to strengthen our friendship. We wanted to host our first dinner at our home, our new campus. It is a very beautiful feeling to know, see, and feel that training students in medical faculties cannot only be the responsibility of a foundation university, that it is a national responsibility for all educators to support wherever they can train students, and that all my fellow physicians present here today share this responsibility with us. Nowadays, students we have trained in our country are being attracted like magnets from abroad. Despite this, we are trying to be self-sufficient with our own human resources. Therefore, we are aware that the support and efforts you provide are not just a simple business partnership but something more. I thank you very much for this, and I wish you all a pleasant evening.”
Dr. Alparslan Tanoğlu: “As a hospital, we strive to be a training ground…”
Associate Professor Dr. Alparslan Tanoğlu, Chief Physician of Sancaktepe Şehit Prof. Dr. İlhan Varank Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, said, “Although Sancaktepe Şehit Prof. Dr. İlhan Varank Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi is a newly established hospital, it has undertaken a significant responsibility and achieved great success, especially on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, by providing excellent healthcare services. We are making efforts to ensure that our hospital becomes a preferred training ground. In this regard, I would like to state that as a result of the cooperation we will realize with you, we have taken a very important step on behalf of our hospital, for the education of our medical students, and to contribute to science.”
Dr. Dursun Ali Şener, “We are very happy and proud to contribute to medical students”
Dr. Dursun Ali Şener, Chief Physician of Memorial Ataşehir Hospital, said, “As Memorial, we are a healthcare institution striving to lead the private healthcare sector in Turkey. We have pioneered many firsts in the Turkish healthcare sector. We have a large number of academics within our structure compared to other private hospitals, and this is a wonderful feature that distinguishes us from other private healthcare institutions. As an institution, we take great pleasure and pride in sharing our experience and knowledge in the field of health with Üsküdar Üniversitesi and contributing to our medical students.”
Dr. Mehmet Topal, “Our goal is to bring good doctors to our country”
Dr. Mehmet Topal, Medical Director of NP İstanbul Hastanesi, said, “Our aim within this educational path we have targeted is to bring good doctors and good people to our country, to train young individuals who act with scientific principles to provide better service to this country.”
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, “Parsley covers the chef's mistake, the iron covers the tailor's, and the soil covers the doctor's mistake”
Stating his happiness at being together for the education and development of health students, Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said that being in the field of health brings significant responsibilities. Tarhan said, “Parsley covers the chef's mistake, the iron covers the tailor's mistake, and the soil covers the doctor's mistake. This has been an important principle in my professional life. When approaching a patient, I try to feel the sense of responsibility accordingly. For this reason, we want to educate our students with this vision. Therefore, we established a student assistant system; each group has a student assistant who identifies shortcomings and provides feedback, and we make adjustments accordingly…” expressing the importance he places on education.
Tarhan: “We keep the quality high”
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said, “We strive to keep the quality high for our students to be well-trained. We wanted to cooperate with hospitals to educate students with this responsibility. It is wonderful to see the satisfaction of our students. My teammates and I thought, let’s gather for dinner to express our thanks, not just in words but through conversation, and tonight we put our thoughts into action. I was happy to see you all here. Hopefully, we will continue this journey of training good students together with you. We will be beneficial to future generations and raise good students.”
