Prof. Dr. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, stated that they train individuals who elevate public health through interdisciplinary coordination and teamwork, saying, “Training professionals who can use education for the benefit of society and humanity is one of our main goals.”

Interdisciplinary Coordination is Aimed in the Field of Health
Prof. Dr. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, pointing to the faculty's mission and goals, said, “At our university, we aim to train individuals who can work with interdisciplinary coordination and teamwork in the field of health, use science and technology to improve society's health, development, and quality of life, are researchers, respectful of universal, cultural, ethical, and human values, and possess sufficient knowledge and skills in their field. Among our goals is to be a reputable and innovative, pioneering faculty in its field, capable of conducting original scientific studies, recognized on national and international platforms, whose competence in health sciences education and training is accepted worldwide, and which has a say in forming plans and policies related to public health.”
Loving Humanity is Important in Healthcare!
Prof. Dr. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin stated his belief that education is the greatest power that can change the world, and that education, justice, transparency, and loving humanity are important for changing our society and the world we live in positively. He added, “One of our primary goals is to train competent professionals who are in line with the current knowledge and developments for the needs of our society, educated with contemporary methods and approaches based on science, technology, and human rights, embracing knowledge production and lifelong learning, self-confident, and capable of using science, education, and service for the benefit of society and humanity.”
Education Compatible with Contemporary Technology…
Prof. Dr. Ertekin stated that Üsküdar University provides education compatible with contemporary technology through its advanced infrastructure and laboratory facilities. He said, “Our theoretical and practical training is planned in accordance with the regulations of the Council of Higher Education, the recommendations of professional associations, and universal scientific principles and requirements, and is delivered seamlessly using current technologies. Practical training is provided at our own institution as well as at public and affiliated institutions.”
The Importance of Practical Training Programs Provided to Students by the Career Center
Prof. Dr. Ertekin also drew attention to the importance of the practical training programs provided to students by the career center, stating, “Our students have the opportunity to both receive training in the field and introduce themselves to the healthcare sector. This approach significantly contributes to their employment after graduation, and our career center is actively working on this. Joint meetings held with various sectors during our students' education periods offer them opportunities to work in the field and communicate with the sector.”
What Scholarship Opportunities are Offered to Students?
Speaking about the importance of scholarship opportunities offered to students, Prof. Dr. Ertekin said, “They can have scholarship opportunities from our institution in many areas, depending on their preference ranking, academic success, sports achievements, and social situations. Additionally, during the preference and promotion period, candidates are provided with information and support regarding scholarships from various public, private, and foundation organizations.”
What are the Social and Academic Supports?
Prof. Dr. Ertekin stated that there are numerous student clubs to contribute to the social development of students and that intensive support is provided to students who wish to conduct research, saying, “Our institution has competent faculty members in its field, advanced laboratories, digital infrastructure, and simulation training facilities. We also have effective work and successes in the field of sports. To contribute to the social development of our students, we have many student clubs, and intensive support is provided for research and project work and patent development for students who wish to conduct research. The ‘Science and Idea Festival,’ which has been held for years at our school and is in its ninth edition this year, is one of the best examples of this.”
12 Different Undergraduate Programs…
Aktuğ stated that they provide undergraduate education in 12 areas within the Faculty of Health Sciences. Aktuğ listed these departments as follows:
“Nutrition and Dietetics, Child Development, Speech and Language Therapy, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Nursing, Occupational Health and Safety, Audiology, Perfusion, Health Management, and Social Work.”
