Fourth-year students of the Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Audiology, experienced the excitement of taking their first steps into the profession by donning their white coats. On this meaningful day, their families joined them, sharing in their happiness. During the ceremony, academicians emphasized the importance and responsibilities of the profession.

Academicians, students, and parents attended the event held at the Üsküdar University NP Health Campus İbni Sina Auditorium, including Assoc. Prof. Didem Şahin, Head of the Audiology Department, Asst. Prof. Gökçe Gültekin from the Audiology Department, and Research Asst. Busemnaz Avşar Aksu.

Assoc. Prof. Didem Şahin: “We have become an internationally recognized department”

Assoc. Prof. Didem Şahin, Head of Üsküdar University's Audiology Department, stated that they observed students' employment advantages increased the more they were challenged; “We are one of the most idealistic, energetic, and dynamic groups in the field of Audiology in Turkey. Especially in the last 4-5 years, we have become a much more internationally recognized department. We are a recognized university for audiology in Istanbul because our idealistic approach somehow led us to push our students. Over 8 years, we have seen that the more they are challenged, the more their employment advantages increase. Therefore, we pushed them. In 3 months, in 5 months, when they enter the field, you will see them in very good positions because we are very ambitious. We are very ambitious in Turkey, in Istanbul, but for the last 3-4 years, we have also started to make our name known worldwide. The new data we found, the new products we developed, and the values we added to the literature are now undeniable. Our publications have started appearing in very high-level journals. These are not just the works of 4-5 academicians; these are also successes stemming from our collaboration with students. At this point, I want to thank the students in front of all of you here. We have been given a very serious responsibility.” she said.

Fatma Beyza Okuyucu: “We are no longer just learners, but individuals ready to touch human lives”

Speaking on behalf of the senior audiology students, Fatma Beyza Okuyucu said; “I am sure that years from now, when we remember this day, it won't just be a ceremony that comes to mind. Our immense excitement, our nervousness, the times we relied on each other during these past four years will come to mind. Being here today is truly very meaningful for all of us. Because today is not just a result, but the culmination of the efforts, excitements, sleepless nights, and sometimes the moments when we thought, ‘Can I succeed? I chose this department, but can I finish it?’ that we experienced together for four years. We are no longer just learners, but also individuals who understand, listen, and are prepared to touch human lives. That’s why today is not just a ceremony for us, but also a very special memory.”

Following the opening speeches, a video prepared by the students about their memories from their years of education was watched.

Future audiologists donned their coats with great enthusiasm

Then, the white coat ceremony commenced. Assoc. Prof. Didem Şahin, Asst. Prof. Gökçe Gültekin, and Research Asst. Busemnaz Avşar Aksu enthusiastically dressed the future audiologists in their coats.
