As part of the Interview Lab events organized by the Üsküdar University Career Center Department, Karnaval Media Group met with students. At the event titled “From Communication to Career: The Power of Creating Impact,” career management in the field of communication was discussed. Within the scope of the event, important information on career planning, CV preparation, and recruitment processes was also shared.

The event, held in the Socrates Hall at the Üsküdar University South Campus, hosted Karnaval Media Group Human Resources Manager Sinem Afacan as a guest speaker.

Sinem Afacan: “If you know what you want, your path opens faster”

Delivering her presentation titled “Career Management and Recruitment Processes,” Sinem Afacan emphasized that the most important step in career management is correctly identifying what one wants. Afacan stated: “A CV without a goal means a candidate who cannot express themselves in a job interview. If you know what you want, your path opens faster.”

Afacan also touched on the basic criteria that Human Resources professionals pay attention to when evaluating candidates and shared practical information on the points students should consider while preparing for professional life.

Attention was drawn to CV preparation techniques

In her speech, Afacan also addressed CV preparation techniques and listed the elements that must be included in an effective resume as follows:

  • Complete and accurate contact information,
  • A clearly stated career objective section,
  • Inclusion of internship experiences and student club activities,
  • Development of Excel and basic digital competencies,
  • Avoidance of unnecessarily long texts.

Students shared their career goals

During the event, students also took the floor and shared their career plans. A student who wanted to advance in the field of psychology talked about a double major goal, while a student studying Public Relations stated that they planned to pursue a master’s degree in the field of Human Resources.

Sinem Afacan answered students’ questions and provided personal suggestions regarding their career plans.
