The fourth of the Project Launch meetings organized by Üsküdar Üniversitesi ARGE and Innovation Policies Directorate was held. Project presentations were made at the meeting, which took place with the participation of senate members and academicians.
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan and Üsküdar Üniversitesi Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, along with senate members and academicians, attended the meeting held at the Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall on Üsküdar Üniversitesi Central Campus.
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan Wished Success to Project Owners
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, who attended the project launch meeting, expressed his appreciation for the presented projects and wished success to the project owners.
Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel Made an R&D Information Presentation
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel delivered the opening remarks of the meeting. Beginning his speech with an R&D information presentation, Ergüzel shared the number of projects undertaken by researchers.
Ergüzel stated: “There is a point that draws our attention regarding this year. Looking at the data collected as of today, our publication count for 100 days is 91. This means we are continuing with an average of approximately 0.9 publications per day.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay: “Submitting Project Applications is Very Valuable”
Speaking within the scope of the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay, Director of ARGE and Innovation Policies, discussed the projects of research assistants and lecturers on a faculty and department basis.
Emphasizing the university's momentum in research activities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay drew attention to the significant increase in the number of project applications. Özay, addressing that project acceptance processes can take time and require patience, stated: “Submitting project applications is very valuable. Here, securing project acceptance is as important to us as making the application itself. This happens step by step. While some faculty members achieve success directly in their first applications, our younger faculty members gain experience in this regard and progress. The acceptance rate of our projects has increased in the last 2 years.”
Project Presentations Were Made During the Meeting
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Visual Communication Design Department Research Asst. Simge Kırteke presented her project titled “The Role of Cognitive Neuroscience Tools in Empathetic Design Approach, A Case Study on Generation Z within the Framework of Neurodesign Concept”.
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Dr. Lecturer Filiz Eyüpoğlu introduced her project titled “The Effect of Functional Training of Respiratory Muscles on Diaphragm Function and Core Stabilization in Patients with Chronic Non-Specific Low Back Pain”.
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (English) Research Asst. İrem Gülfem Albayrak presented her project titled “Investigation of the Effect of NHE6 Gene Modulation on the Expression of Alzheimer's-Related Genes”.
Subsequently, Günalp Uysal, Entrepreneur of BrainPark Incubation Center and Founder of Beezsoft Software Consulting Company, made his presentation. Uysal spoke about their targeted project, the “Mobile NST Device,” due to the discomfort of NST devices in hospitals. Uysal also emphasized that they aim to participate in TÜBİTAK projects.
Seedling Certificates Were Awarded
After the project presentations, seedling certificates were awarded to the project owners by Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan.
Subsequently, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay, Director of ARGE and Innovation Policies, delivered the ARGEYEP Executive Board activity presentation.
The launch meeting concluded with a group photo session after participants' questions were answered.
