Gizem Şahin, a senior student in the Department of Forensic Science at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, was selected as a full member of the YÖKAK Student Commission by the Council of Higher Education Quality (YÖKAK).
Üsküdar University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Forensic Science senior student Gizem Şahin, has been selected as a full member of the YÖKAK Student Commission by the Council of Higher Education Quality (YÖKAK), which is responsible for making institutional accreditation decisions for higher education institutions in Turkey and for authorizing and recognizing program accreditation bodies.

A call announced by the Council of Higher Education Quality to determine members for the YÖKAK Student Commission for the 2023-2024 Academic Year received 82 applications from 45 higher education institutions. Following evaluations, 17 candidates from 16 higher education institutions qualified for interviews. Seven new members were selected for the student commission, which consists of a total of 11 members. Üsküdar University student Gizem Şahin also qualified to be among the new 7 members.
Participated in the Quality Ambassador Program and Quality Ambassador Workshop
Şahin began her quality work with the Quality Ambassador Program and Quality Ambassador Workshop organized by the Council of Higher Education Quality, successfully completing these training programs.
Gizem Şahin currently continues her role as a student working at the Quality Directorate. She also serves as the President of the Quality Club and conducts club activities under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aylin Yalçın Sarıbey.
Council of Higher Education Quality Student Commission
The Council of Higher Education Quality (YÖKAK) Student Commission was established on October 1, 2019, in line with YÖKAK's decision, with the aim of promoting a culture of quality assurance in higher education, internalizing quality processes, increasing student participation in the quality assurance system, and carrying out national and international studies. The duties of the YÖKAK Student Commission are as follows:
• To carry out studies aimed at ensuring the internalization and dissemination of the quality assurance culture in higher education by students,
• To increase students' participation in quality assurance processes in higher education,
• To plan activities to be carried out within the academic year and present them to the Board,
• To carry out student-participatory studies at national and international levels,
• To recommend student candidates for evaluators to be included in the evaluation programs conducted by the Board to the Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Commission,
• To create an archive of completed studies and present it to the Board,
• To prepare an activity report on the studies carried out by the Commission within the relevant year and present it to the Board,
• To organize Quality Ambassador Training.
