Forensic Science department students in Kütahya for a symposium…

Students participated in the Forensic Science Symposium organized by Kütahya Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi, as part of a travel event arranged by Üsküdar Üniversitesi Forensic Science and Criminal Justice Club. The travel event, which involved approximately 80 students, commenced on Thursday, March 31, at 02:00 AM, with two buses — one from Üsküdar Municipality and one from Üsküdar Üniversitesi — departing from in front of Üsküdar Üniversitesi Main Campus. The buses were welcomed with gifts by students and academicians at Kütahya Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi. 

The symposium began with opening speeches and a music recital by Kütahya Governor Ali Çelik, Kütahya Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi Rector Vural Kavuncu, Dr. Harun Şener, Head of Forensic Science Department at Kütahya Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi, and symposium chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nebile Dağlıoğlu, Lecturer in the Forensic Medicine Department at Çukurova Üniversitesi Faculty of Medicine. The presentations by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miraç Burak Gönültaş, Former Head of Homicide Bureau and Lecturer at Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi Faculty of Letters, titled ‘Vulnerability-Focused Dynamics in Sexual Abuse Victimization: The Vortex of Sexual Abuse,’ and Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Acar, Lecturer at Pamukkale Üniversitesi Faculty of Medicine, Forensic Medicine Department, titled ‘The Journey of a Bloodstain from Sherlock Holmes to Dexter,’ garnered great interest from the students.

Only in Üsküdar and Kütahya in Turkey…

Students from the Forensic Science departments, which are only available at Üsküdar Üniversitesi and Kütahya Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi in Turkey, gathered during the lunch break provided at the symposium. Following the break, students were given a tour of bomb disposal and crime scene investigation vehicles, and information was provided by the police officers on duty. After presentations by Odunpazarı District Governor Ömer Ulu titled ‘Combating Supply,’ Prof. Dr. Kamil Hakan Doğan titled ‘Crime Scene Investigation in Poisonings,’ and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökhan İbrahim Öğünç titled ‘The Concept of Crime Scene in Forensic Ballistics Analysis,’ students participated in workshops on fingerprinting, forensic anthropology, and forensic toxicology.

Following the closing speech by Dr. Lecturer Yakup Gülekçi, the symposium concluded with a commemorative photo session involving Kütahya Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi academicians and students from both departments.
