An event titled “A Cardiovascular Perspective on Foot Wounds” was organized by the Podology Program of Üsküdar University’s School of Health Services Vocational College (VSHS). The guest speaker of the event was Dr. Hasan Murat Arslan, a Cardiovascular Surgery Specialist at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Training and Research Hospital. Dr. Arslan discussed foot wounds related to chronic diseases, circulatory disorders, and the role of the cardiovascular system in the healing process. Sharing his clinical experience, Arslan emphasized the importance of proper wound evaluation and encouraged students to continuously read and conduct research.

The program, held at the Beylerbeyi Conference Hall of Üsküdar University’s Çarşı Campus, attracted great interest from VSHS academicians, students, and the Head of the Podology Program.

The event particularly addressed foot wounds associated with chronic diseases, circulatory disorders, and the role of the cardiovascular system in healing processes.

Drawing on his clinical experience, Dr. Hasan Murat Arslan conveyed professionally valuable information to podology students.

Dr. Arslan: “You have to love the wound”

Dr. Arslan, who conducts studies on wounds developing due to vascular surgery and circulatory disorders, stated that the foundation of a successful treatment approach lies in fully understanding both the patient and the characteristics of the wound. He said, “You have to love the wound. If you love the wound, then you will be successful in this field.”

“I learn something from every patient”

Emphasizing the importance of continuous learning to students, Arslan drew attention to the continuity of professional development by saying, “I learn something from every patient. I read. You should read and follow the field as well.”

Throughout the event, Dr. Hasan Murat Arslan shared both his theoretical knowledge and field experience, creating an interactive and productive session by answering students’ questions.

The program ended with a group photo session.
