Üsküdar University continues to bring important names from the field together with its students… In this context, the New Media and Communication Department organized an event titled 'Content Creation in New Media'. Ferit Ömeroğlu, Owner and Content Creator of OneWord Agency, attended the event as a guest. Ömeroğlu shared his digital journey and important details of being a freelance content creator. Ömeroğlu highlighted that differentiation is necessary for success.
The event, held in the Fuat Sezgin Conference Hall at the South Campus, was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yıldız Derya Birincioğlu, Head of the New Media and Communication Department at Üsküdar University.
'Differentiation is Necessary for Success'
Ferit Ömeroğlu, Owner and Content Creator of OneWord Agency, who spoke about his journey to becoming a freelance content creator in the program that communication students showed great interest in, emphasized important points in his success. Ömeroğlu said; “When I was a university student, I had a social background from high school. Being involved in club activities and many events had developed me, but when I reached my fourth year, I realized that I had filled the spoon a lot but there was nothing in it. I was very active for four years, but I saw that I couldn't do anything tangible. I took a pen and paper and first wrote down what I couldn't do. I didn't have graphic design skills, I didn't understand editing… In what I could do, I had organizational skills, and I believed I could convince people of things. I wrote these down on paper, and I could ask questions. Today, the fundamental way I sustain my life is through asking questions. In 2016, I said, 'Let's set up a channel on the YouTube platform,' but I had nothing. I convinced my talented friends in the field, and we set off. For two years, as an eight-person team, we produced free content on YouTube under the name 'Gençlik Odası TV' (Youth Room TV). While producing content, what I always believed was that differentiation was necessary for success. When I talk about differentiation today, my friends always come up with new ideas excitedly. When I say differentiation, I am talking about a tangible differentiation.”
The event continued with a Q&A session and concluded after a group photo shoot.
