English Preparatory Students Meet with Experts

Üsküdar University English Preparatory School brings together its B1 and B2 level students with experts in their fields. Within the scope of the ESP-English for Specific Purposes Program curriculum, the aim is to better educate students by holding lessons and interviews with experts from university faculty units and external institutions.

The Preparatory School offers an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) program that meets faculty-level language needs. This program applies a Problem/Project-Based Learning method, which guides students to research and learn, discuss, choose the most appropriate solution from various alternatives, and apply what they have learned. This process includes stages from collecting data from various sources to preparing a detailed, researched academic report with a bibliography page.

The primary aim of Üsküdar University Preparatory School is to equip students with the necessary English language knowledge and academic skills to study in faculties where the language of instruction is English. Within this scope, lessons and interviews are organized with experts from university faculty units and external institutions, within the framework of the ESP-English for Specific Purposes Program curriculum for B1 and B2 level groups.

Within the framework of the ESP-English for Specific Purposes Program curriculum; 

- Dilek Batur, Üsküdar University Foreign Languages Coordinator, for the Psychology course, on 'Interpretation of Dreams', 

- Dr. Hümeyra Genç, Lecturer at the Department of English Translation and Interpreting, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, on 'Translation and Culture', 

- Hüsnü Kerpiççi, R&D Director at Koç Yaşa Medikal, on 'English in Engineering', 

- Hüseyin Fatih Aktaş, Senior Expert at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, on 'Digital Transformation, 
Energy, Environment, Industrial Facilities, Infrastructure, Superstructure, and Smart Agriculture',  

- Ümit Barak, Computer Engineer, on 'English is essential in computer engineering', 

- Dr. Bahadır Tektaş, Electrical and Electronics Engineer, TÜBİTAK Senior Researcher, delivered a lecture on 'Electromagnetic security instrumentation utilizing the latest technology in security matters'. 

Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Sevim Işık from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, also gave a lecture to students within the scope of Molecular Biology and Genetics.
