Efe Sefa Değirmenci, a 3rd-year student in the Üsküdar University, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Molecular Biology and Genetics (English) Department and President of the IEEE Club, ranked among the top 5 finalists nationwide with the project he developed in “AMGEN 6th IamGenius Biotechnology Ideas Competition”, one of Türkiye's important competitions in the field of biotechnology. Efe Sefa Değirmenci Cecame an “AMGEN IamGenius” Türkiye finalist

The competition, organized by Amgen, one of the world's largest independent biotechnology companies, aims to encourage young researchers and university students to develop innovative ideas in the field of biotechnology.
This year, over 100 students from various universities across Türkiye applied to IamGenius, which aims to make young people's creative ideas in science, biotechnology, and health technologies visible. Following the pre-selection process, 5 ideas that made it to the final had the opportunity to present their innovative solutions for health and life sciences to expert jury members.

Ranked among the top 5 finalists
Efe Sefa Değirmenci participated in the competition with his project developed under the theme of “Smart Health Solutions with Artificial Intelligence in Biotechnology”. The project, focusing on the use of artificial intelligence technologies in healthcare, was deemed worthy of the final by the jury for its innovative approach, data-driven analysis model, and solution-oriented structure.
In the competition where numerous applications from across Türkiye were evaluated, Değirmenci, who was among the top 5 finalists, gained the opportunity to represent Üsküdar University at the national level with this achievement.
