Education Materials Prepared by Child Development Students Met Children in Niger

Students from Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) Child Development Program and Child Protection and Care Services Program delivered preschool education materials, which they developed as part of their courses, to children in need through a social responsibility project. The materials exhibited at the university were made available to contribute to the education processes of children in Niger, as part of volunteer activities carried out through the Children of the Earth Association and in cooperation with TIKA.

Students designed educational materials for the preschool period as part of courses conducted under the coordination of Asst. Prof. Ümit Tuna, Head of Child Protection and Care Services Program, and Instructor Müge Çolakoğlu Özer, Head of Child Development Program.

The materials, prepared to support children's cognitive, social, language, motor, and fine motor skills development, enabled students to combine their theoretical knowledge with practice and also transformed into an exemplary work that strengthened social responsibility awareness.

Education materials exhibited at the university

The preschool education materials prepared throughout the semester were presented to visitors at an exhibition held in the lobby area of Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus.

The works featured in the exhibition showcased students' professional creativity and material development skills, while also drawing attention to the importance of using quality materials in preschool education for children's development.

Prepared materials delivered to children in need

Following the exhibition, the education materials prepared by the students were handed over to the Children of the Earth Association to be used in educational and activity programs with children.

Thus, the practical materials prepared as part of the course did not remain merely an academic study but were transformed into a project generating social benefit and were utilized to contribute to the educational processes of children in need.

Contribution also made to the education of children in Niger

Within the scope of voluntary medical and social responsibility activities carried out by Instructor Abdurrahman Şengül of Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) Anesthesia Program in Niger, in cooperation with the Volunteers Association and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), the education materials and toys prepared by the students were also delivered to children in the region.

Within the scope of the program, which includes education and volunteer activities in addition to health services, the materials delivered to children supported game-based learning processes and contributed to the development of children in regions with limited access to educational opportunities.

Vocational education met social responsibility…

The conducted work not only helped students put their professional knowledge and skills into practice but also contributed to their acquisition of social responsibility awareness.

The delivery of education materials prepared as part of the course to children in Niger through an international volunteering activity once again demonstrated Üsküdar University's approach, which centers on generating social benefit in education, and its vision of educating its students with a sense of universal responsibility.
