Prof. Dr. Kemal Arıkan, a faculty member at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Medicine and a psychiatrist with many years of experience in the field of Clinical Neuroscience, has been elected as the president of the EEG and Clinical Neuroscience Society (ECNS). Prof. Dr. Arıkan stated that in his new role at ECNS, with which Üsküdar Üniversitesi also collaborates, he will work to ensure that neurophysiological methods are adopted by wider audiences in clinical applications and to develop scientific collaborations.
Prof. Dr. Kemal Arıkan, a faculty member at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Medicine, elaborated on the mission and vision goals of his new position.
Goal: To Disseminate Scientific Knowledge to Wider Audiences
Prof. Dr. Kemal Arıkan, an active member of ECNS since its establishment, outlined the association's new goals upon assuming the presidency. Arıkan stated, “Among our most important goals are to increase the number of ECNS members, disseminate scientific knowledge to a wider audience, and encourage the effective use of neurophysiological methods such as electroencephalography in clinical applications…”
Knowledge to be Shared Through Journal
Prof. Dr. Arıkan stated that ECNS's primary goal is to ensure the more widespread use of neurophysiological techniques in the fields of psychiatry and psychology, and that the accumulated knowledge in this area will be shared through the Clinical EEG and Neuroscience journal.
Aiming to Build a Stronger Community with Contributions from New Members
Prof. Dr. Kemal Arıkan, a faculty member at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Medicine, discussed the mission and vision goals. Prof. Dr. Arıkan, who aims to enhance international collaboration and expand knowledge in the field of neurophysiology through ECNS membership, stated that they intend to create a stronger community with the contributions of new members. Emphasizing the importance of techniques such as EEG, ERP, and sleep EEG in clinical practice, Prof. Dr. Arıkan expressed his belief that the integration of these techniques into clinical applications will contribute to the sciences of psychiatry and psychology.
Prof. Dr. Kemal Arıkan invited all neuroscience specialists who wish to contribute to ECNS's new vision and engage in scientific sharing to join the ECNS family.
Prof. Dr. Kemal Arıkan built a strong foundation for his academic career through education at prestigious institutions such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Albert Einstein Medical College, Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty, and Bakırköy Mental Health and Neurological Diseases Hospital. He currently operates the Kemal Arıkan Psychiatry Clinic in Istanbul and continues to contribute to the field through neurophysiological research and education.
