Dr. Meliha Nur Çerçinli, Lecturer at Üsküdar University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of History, has been elected as the General President of the Turkish Archivists Association.

According to the statement from the association, Çerçinli became the general president of the association after the end of the term of Orhan Sakin, who has authored numerous works in the fields of archiving, history, and Ottoman Turkish.
In the new period, the aim is to implement projects such as the protection of individual archives, the preservation of collective memory in digital environments, the development of artificial intelligence-supported archiving systems, and the strengthening of professional solidarity.
The Turkish Archivists Association, a member of the International Council on Archives (ICA) and actively involving expert academics in its field, carries out efforts to transfer Turkey's archival memory to the future.
The association, which collaborates with archive communities abroad, also provides mentorship support to academics and students working in the relevant departments of universities.
Who is Dr. Meliha Nur Çerçinli?
Meliha Nur Çerçinli completed her undergraduate degree at Yeditepe University in 2010, her master's degree at İstanbul University in 2017, and her doctorate with honors at Yeditepe University in 2022.
Çerçinli, who teaches History and Social Memory, Museology, and Urban History courses at Üsküdar University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, has been working as a researcher at the Presidency of State Archives for 15 years.
Çerçinli adapted Mustafa Reşit Paşa’s political documents into contemporary Turkish and published them under the title "A Turkish Diplomat's Political Documents" (“Bir Türk Diplomatının Evrak-ı Siyasiyyesi”).
The author, who has worked on children's, women's, and animal rights, presented papers at national and international symposiums and congresses and served as a "keynote speaker." Çerçinli was a member of the scientific committee of the Turkish Archivists Association.
