A cooperation protocol has been signed between Türkiye Darüşşifa Foundation and Üsküdar Üniversitesi. The project, which covers family medicine and family counseling training, also aims to be developed as a European Union project.
The meeting, held at the Üsküdar Üniversitesi Central Campus Senate meeting hall, was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak, Türkiye Darüşşifa Foundation Chairman of the Board Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tarık Eren Yılmaz, Dean of Medicine Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, ÜSEM Director - Head of Family Counseling Department Dr. Mert Akcanbaş, R&D and Innovation Policies Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay, Alaaddin Keykubat Üniversitesi Family Medicine Department Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Kenan Taştan, Clinical Psychologist Elif Tokaç, Education Coordinator Ayfer Duran, Furkan Tokaç, Secretary General Selçuk Uysaler, Deputy Secretary General Ayşe Öztürk, and Faculty of Medicine Secretary Zeynal Abidin Kocadağ.
Key Outlines of the Project Determined
The key outlines of the cooperation project regarding family medicine and family counseling training to be carried out between Türkiye Darüşşifa Foundation and Üsküdar Üniversitesi have been determined. The project aims to be developed as a European Union project and to include different stakeholders.
During the meeting, two commissions consisting of academics from both Türkiye Darüşşifa Foundation and Üsküdar Üniversitesi were appointed.
It was discussed that the first commission should review the curricula and training modules before the project, while the second commission should examine case studies worldwide and present their findings by the next meeting.
Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak: “Our Main Goal is to Save the Family”
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak, mentioning their desire to start the project and form a team, stated: “To save the family, there need to be structures that will strengthen and encourage the family. The family structure is deteriorating, and as integrity breaks down, the sense of being a family also diminishes. Our main goal here is to save the family.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tarık Eren Yılmaz: “We Want to Enrich the Content Further”
Türkiye Darüşşifa Foundation Chairman of the Board Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tarık Eren Yılmaz spoke about the foundation’s expectations. It was stated that an international project should be developed with Üsküdar Üniversitesi, and this project should be equipped with family health studies to contribute to basic health services. Yılmaz then also pointed out the need to review the curriculum created for the protection of the family structure.
Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur: “We Need to Do Things That Directly Protect”
Dean of Medicine Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, who made suggestions during the project planning phase, stated: “We need to emphasize and pursue our truths. While establishing these truths, we need to strengthen the walls. There are deficiencies in the protection of the family structure. We need to do things that directly protect the family structure.”
Provided Information About the Project Process
R&D and Innovation Policies Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay provided information about the project process, and mutual exchange of ideas took place in this context. Afterwards, ÜSEM Director - Head of Family Counseling Department Dr. Mert Akcanbaş also drew attention to the concept of family.
