Cloud-based medical imaging applications increase efficiency…

Medical imaging devices offer significant support to physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. These technologies provide information about the area to be intervened, while also offering significant benefits to physicians in tracking the area after surgical intervention or determining how/where to perform a surgical procedure. These devices offer effective, rapid solutions for early diagnosis and intervention, while cloud-based medical imaging applications also facilitate data storage and retrieval, increasing efficiency.

Medical imaging devices provide ease to physicians in diagnosis and treatment

Lecturer Aybike Pirol Elmas from Uskudar University Health Services Vocational School, Biomedical Device Technology, evaluated the effects of medical imaging devices in diagnosis and treatment.

The internal structure of the body is examined with medical imaging devices

Aybike Pirol Elmas stated that medical imaging devices enable the examination of the body's internal structure, adding, "Medical imaging methods and devices used in this field aim to examine the body's internal structure using various techniques and to increase the support provided to physicians. It incorporates technological devices such as ultrasonography, X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine devices, mammography, and computed tomography (CT)."

These devices offer significant support to physicians

Emphasizing that medical imaging devices, which make it possible to access valuable information about patients' internal bodies, hold an important place in diagnosis and treatment in the healthcare field, Aybike Pirol Elmas stated:

"In the world of healthcare, since the goal has always been to ensure people can benefit from the highest level of facilities and continue their lives in a healthy manner; the support of medical imaging methods and devices to physicians in line with this goal is of great importance. From this perspective, we can say that the benefits of technology supporting the healthcare system through medical imaging devices are considerable; making the healthcare sector more confident in increasing the well-being of individuals' health. Especially with the benefit it provides to physicians regarding obtaining information about the area to be intervened, the ability of the physician to monitor the area after surgical intervention, or how/where to perform a surgical intervention, it enables the healthcare sector to offer effective, rapid solutions for early diagnosis and interventions for individuals.”

Significant progress has been made in the field of imaging

Aybike Pirol Elmas noted that while an X-ray film or radiography is often the first thing that comes to mind for medical imaging in society, it can be said that there is much more with innovative technology beyond this oldest and most frequently used method of medical imaging, adding, "Especially since the use of X-rays in medicine with W. Röntgen, a long way has been covered in the field of imaging. The studies carried out to maximize benefits with current technology are not only related to X-rays but also include developments in ultrasound and nuclear medicine imaging methods; with advanced medical imaging tools such as 3D reconstruction technology, real-time imaging, and the fusion of PET, MRI, and CT images, medical imaging devices have become an indispensable part of diagnosis and treatment."

Artificial intelligence is used in every field

Aybike Pirol Elmas stated that the use of medical imaging systems is poised to play a central role in verifying and evaluating the course of a disease and its response to treatment, adding, "Given that the integration of artificial intelligence technology, which is integrated into almost every field, with medical imaging is expected to make it possible to provide clearer information in treatment planning and during the treatment process, developments in this area have accelerated in recent years."

Digital storage of data is provided

Aybike Pirol Elmas noted that the digital acquisition of images in today's devices and their transmission as digital images to the physician demonstrates improvements in the field regarding the digital storage of a large amount of data, adding, "Furthermore, the storage, access, and sharing of this data in emergency situations are open to development with cloud-based applications independent of geographical location. Cloud-based medical imaging applications can facilitate data storage and retrieval, and increase efficiency."

New developments are observed in medical technology

Lecturer Aybike Pirol Elmas concluded her words as follows: "Today, in parallel with developing technology, advancements in medical technology are also proceeding simultaneously. Therefore, we observe with daily studies that engineering and technology continue to make significant contributions to the healthcare sector in the field of imaging."
