A CBRN Awareness and Suspicious Package Training was organized by Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services. The event addressed the precautions that should be taken against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats. Aiming to raise students’ awareness of potential risks, the training created significant awareness.

The event was held at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus Emirnebi Conference Hall, with İbrahim Adayış attending as a guest speaker. The program covered the definition of the CBRN concept, its historical development, and the risks that may be encountered today.

İbrahim Adayış: “Individual precautions taken with correct information and awareness can save lives”

Emphasizing that CBRN incidents should not be viewed solely as large scale disasters and that individual awareness and accurate information are vital, İbrahim Adayış stated, “When CBRN is mentioned in society, only large scale attacks usually come to mind. However, individual precautions taken with correct information and awareness can be life saving.”

Addressing nuclear threats, Adayış added, “Knowing the precautions that need to be taken against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats can prevent potential loss of life.”

It is important not to panic in the event of a chemical attack or leak

Within the scope of the training, information was provided on dangers that may arise from the accidental or intentional release of chemical substances, the effects of biological agents on human health, and radiological and nuclear risks.

Providing guidance on the steps to follow and personal protection methods in the event of possible exposure, İbrahim Adayış said, “In the event of a chemical attack or leak, it is crucial not to panic. It is very important not to leave the area until authorities confirm that it is safe.”

The importance of suspicious package awareness was emphasized

Adayış also addressed the distinguishing features of suspicious packages and the safe procedures to follow when encountering such situations, stating, “When a suspicious package is encountered, it should never be touched or opened. The area should be isolated and the relevant authorities should be notified immediately.”

The event, which attracted strong interest, concluded after a question-and-answer session.
