Prof. Dr. Güler Cimete: “We reflect our awareness into the service we provide”
Prof. Dr. Güler Cimete, Head of the Midwifery Department, who addressed the care process with principles and examples in all its aspects, stated: “When we talk about care, we are referring to a process that encompasses all the knowledge, skills, and approaches we learn, develop, and put into practice in the fields of midwifery and nursing. The care process, in turn, is a structure where specific steps follow one another. In this process, we reflect the knowledge, skills, and emotional awareness at the core of our profession into the service we provide. We shape it as a care approach entirely directed towards people. All these elements form the foundation of our concept of care.”
“We have a holistic and humanitarian philosophy”
Cimete, stating that they adopt a humanitarian and holistic care philosophy, said: “The fundamental philosophy of our profession, our perspective, forms the main structure that guides us. Within this framework, we have a holistic and humanitarian philosophy. We must embrace this philosophy and possess the appropriate knowledge and skills so that we can reflect this approach in every step of the care process…”
“We need to consider social, physical, and biological environments”
Cimete, stating that they adopt a holistic environmental approach in care, said: “We contribute to people’s health by supporting them with our knowledge and practices. A person’s social environment affects them, and they, in turn, affect their social environment. Therefore, we need to consider the social, physical, and biological environments of the individuals for whom we provide care.”
The event concluded after students’ questions were answered.
