“Camp, Speak, Dream, Live” Project Launched at Üsküdar University

Üsküdar University, in collaboration with the Arthur M. Blank Center for Stuttering Education and Research at the University of Texas, has implemented the “Camp, Speak, Dream, Live” project. Conducted in partnership with the Department of Speech and Language Therapy at the Faculty of Health Sciences, the project aims to improve the quality of life, communication skills, and social interaction of individuals who stutter.

Carried out in collaboration with the Department of Speech and Language Therapy at Üsküdar University’s Faculty of Health Sciences, the “Camp, Speak, Dream, Live” project took place between June 30 and July 4, 2025, under the coordination of the Speech and Language Therapy Research and Application Center (ÜSESKOM).

A First in Türkiye!

Held between June 30 and July 4, 2025, at the Üsküdar University Speech and Language Therapy Research and Application Center (ÜSESKOM), this program marked the first application in Türkiye of a unique intervention model. The project focused not only on fluency but also on self-confidence, leadership, and peer relationships, offering a holistic developmental approach.

Therapy Meets Fun

Throughout the program, various therapeutic activities and group sessions were organized. Fun activities such as clay modeling and a magic show were also included to create an engaging and supportive environment.

The final day featured parent-involved evaluation and sharing sessions, allowing families to reflect on the progress made.

Led by Renowned Experts

The project was spearheaded by Prof. Ahmet Konrot, Chair of the Speech and Language Therapy Department and Director of ÜSESKOM, alongside Assoc. Prof. Ayşe Aydın Uysal. Numerous speech and language therapists from different universities also took part, ensuring a rich, interdisciplinary experience. The initiative was praised as a pioneering step in Türkiye for its innovative approach and its focus on empowering children beyond clinical treatment.
