A ‘Midwife Massage Event’ was organized by the First Touch to Miracle Club of Üsküdar Üniversitesi Health, Culture and Sports Department (SKS). As part of the event, baby massage training was provided for 3rd and 4th-year midwifery students, as well as master’s students. Midwife Döne Abbasoğlu, who works in the delivery room of Istanbul Zeynep Kâmil Women and Children's Diseases Training and Research Hospital, attended the event as a guest.

Midwives and aspiring midwives came together at the event held at Üsküdar Üniversitesi NP Health Campus.

Aspiring midwives gained a critical skill in baby care
Within the scope of the event, aspiring midwives gained a critical skill in baby care by receiving practical baby massage training. Participants had the opportunity to learn massage application using doll babies to make the event more enjoyable. In the event, in addition to providing practical information to midwives and aspiring midwives, skills to enhance professional competencies of young midwives and contribute to the healthy development of babies were also explained.

“Touch is the most powerful emotion in the human body”
Midwife Döne Abbasoğlu, a Board Member of the Anatolian Midwives Association, stated that touch is the most powerful emotion in the human body and emphasized that massage is an important communication tool that strengthens the bond between people. During the event, where current information obtained from national and international studies on the effects of massage was shared, examples from recent research on the positive effects of massage on physical and emotional health were presented. She emphasized that this skill is a valuable tool for both professionals and parents.

A multifaceted experience bridging health, education, and environmental awareness
To thank the participants, gifts were presented to the students by the club sponsors. To Midwife Döne Abbasoğlu, who was a guest at the event, a sapling donation certificate was presented by Dr. Tuğba Yılmaz Esencan, Advisor of the First Touch to Miracle Club and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The gifts given to participants, the sapling donation, and the massage application with doll babies made the event a meaningful experience beyond just information sharing.
The event is also significant as it provided students with a multifaceted experience by building bridges between health, education, and environmental awareness.
