Üsküdar University is strengthening its academic relations with Azerbaijan. Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör and her accompanying delegation visited Azerbaijan. Güngör participated in an international symposium organized by Western Caspian University within the scope of the COP 29 Summit. At the symposium, where mountaineering and mountain culture were discussed in the context of the ecological crisis, Güngör addressed the relationship between ecological crisis and communication. Güngör drew attention to the importance of a peaceful and balanced human-nature relationship in preventing the ecological crisis.

Participation in international symposium achieved
Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör and her accompanying delegation participated in an international symposium held in Baku by Western Caspian University within the scope of the COP 29 Summit. At the symposium, where mountaineering and mountain culture were discussed in the context of the ecological crisis, Prof. Güngör presented a paper on the relationship between ecological crisis and communication. Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication, New Media and Communication Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gül Esra Atalay and Üsküdar University Faculty of Communication, New Media and Communication (English) Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahar Muratoğlu Pehlivan also contributed to the symposium with the papers they presented.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atalay touched upon the topic of ‘Greenwash’, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pehlivanoğlu highlighted the importance of mountain culture.
Meeting held with Azerbaijan National Assembly Member Cavanşir Feyziyev
Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör met with Cavanşir Feyziyev, a Member of the Azerbaijan National Assembly, known for his work on education, teaching, and cultural development. During the meeting, held at Feyziyev's invitation, information about Üsküdar University was provided.
Collaborations with Baku State University discussed
Rector Prof. Dr. Güngör and her accompanying delegation also held a meeting with Baku State University Rector Prof. Dr. Elchin Babayev as part of the visit. During the meeting held in the Baku State University Senate Hall, preparations for the 12th International Communication Days, which will be organized in Baku in May 2025 in cooperation with both universities, were reviewed.

Within the scope of the visit, they also participated in the Azerbaijan Victory Day celebration events organized by Baku State University. In her speech at the celebration ceremony, Üsküdar University Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör emphasized the importance of the brotherhood between the two countries. Güngör stated that if the unity of the Azerbaijani people continues, they could become one of the world's powerful economies in the very near future. Güngör also stated that Üsküdar University would always stand by Azerbaijan in this development and progress process.
