Büşra Akgül, senior student in the Emergency and Disaster Management Program and President of the Emergency and Disaster Management Club affiliated with Üsküdar University’s Department of Health, Culture, and Sports (HCS), has actively volunteered in various wildfire zones across Türkiye.

Deployed in Sakarya, İzmir, and Silivri
As a Forest Volunteer, Akgül took part in firefighting efforts on the ground in Sakarya, İzmir, and Silivri, earning widespread admiration for her dedicated and courageous work in disaster zones.
A standing ovation at the graduation ceremony
Her remarkable volunteer work was highlighted with a special announcement during Üsküdar University’s 12th Graduation Ceremony, where she received a heartfelt round of applause from the audience.
Back to the fire zone after graduation
Immediately after the ceremony, Akgül returned to the wildfire zone in İzmir without hesitation, continuing her voluntary service.

Raising awareness about disaster preparedness
Through her student leadership and club activities, Akgül has organized numerous projects and events aimed at raising awareness of disaster preparedness and response among university students.

Encouraging young people to volunteer
Stating that she will continue her work in this field after graduation, Büşra Akgül emphasized the importance of youth engagement in volunteerism, encouraging other students to take initiative and make a difference.
