Among world universities, in the top 101, and in Turkey, in the top 2…

The success of Üsküdar Üniversitesi in its research and education activities was once again registered by the international rating agency Times Higher Education (THE). Üsküdar Üniversitesi, which is among the first 101 universities in the world university rankings, achieved remarkable managerial success with its efforts to establish peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development and create inclusive institutions. Üsküdar Üniversitesi, which also achieved significant success with its ‘Impact Ranking’ score, ranked 2nd in Turkey in the ‘16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions / (Barış, Adalet ve Güçlü Kurumlar)’ category. 


What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

The ''Sustainable Development Goals'', a universal call to action aimed to be achieved by United Nations member states by the end of 2030, invites the whole world to cooperate for the solution of social, economic, cultural, and ecological issues consisting of 17 main headings such as ending hunger and poverty worldwide, combating climate change, ensuring gender equality, providing quality education, and promoting responsible production and consumption.

It came into force in January 2016 under the umbrella of the United Nations and aims to make significant progress on the seventeen goals set until 2030. The UN, through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) it established for the implementation of the seventeen goals, supports governments in integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into their national development plans and policies. The Sustainable Development Goals, consisting of 17 interconnected goals and presenting the necessary steps for all people to live in peace and prosperity as sub-goals, operate in a spirit of global partnership and pragmatism to sustainably improve life for future generations. The Times Higher Education organization, which ranks world universities with its activities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, aims to encourage universities to contribute to humanity for a better and sustainable life with the Times Impact Rankings, the first ranking conducted in this field.

Üsküdar, 29th among universities in Turkey…

From the United Nations' 17 categories of sustainable development goals, applied for in 2022, Üsküdar Üniversitesi earned the right to receive all tags including “5-Gender Equality / (Toplumsal Cinsiyet Eşitliği)”, “10-Reduced Inequalities / (Eşitsizliklerin Azaltılması)”, “13-Climate Action / (İklim Eylemi)”, “16-Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions / (Barış, Adalet ve Güçlü Kurumlar)” and “17-Partnerships For The Goals / (Amaçlar için Ortaklıklar)”, and was listed 29th among universities in Turkey in the “Overall Ranking” category.
