AIDS Awareness Day and Reproductive Health Exhibition opened…

Üsküdar Üniversitesi’nde on December 1 World AIDS Day, the AIDS Awareness Day and Reproductive Health Exhibition opened. In the exhibition held with the support of the Turkish Family Health and Planning Foundation, attention was drawn to infectious diseases such as HIV and AIDS.

Student interest was high in the exhibition opened by students of Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Health Sciences, Midwifery Department, in the Çarşı Campus Lobby area.

In the exhibition, which was also attended by Head of Midwifery Department Prof. Dr. Güler Cimete, Lecturer Ayça Demir Yıldırım informed students about the functions of the reproductive system and its contributions to reproductive health within the scope of the Healthy Pregnancy and Midwifery Care course for second-year Midwifery students.

Yıldırım stated that they specifically chose this day, and noted that they wanted to draw attention to HIV and AIDS Awareness Day on December 1, World AIDS Day.

Yıldırım: “HIV and AIDS are infectious but preventable diseases!”

Lecturer Ayça Demir Yıldırım made the following evaluations regarding reproductive organs and reproductive health: “Midwives need to master reproductive organs to monitor how pregnancy occurs, how a baby grows and develops in the womb, and how this healthy development continues. We asked midwifery students to make models of male and female reproductive organs so they could better learn every detail of the reproductive organs. Reproductive organs are very important not only for pregnancy, but also for sexual health and reproductive health. It is important for both sexes, both male and female, to protect their reproductive organs against infections for reproductive health. HIV and AIDS are infectious diseases, but they are not diseases for which we should exclude people. We wanted to commemorate this day by trying to contribute to their treatment and care as midwives, by including them.”
