Support from international universities for the joint ‘Universal Human Values and Rights Manifesto,’ which was opened for signature approximately a month ago by Üsküdar Üniversitesi and Kazakhstan L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University, continues to grow. Following Ukraine, another wave of support came from the Association of African and Asian Universities, comprising over 200 universities. The Association of African and Asian Universities and its affiliated universities published a letter of support for the ‘Universal Human Values and Rights Manifesto.’

Support for the Manifesto, which consists of 10 articles and has been signed by nearly 400,000 people to date, is increasing day by day.

Prof. Dr. İlham Miraç, a member of the RİNAP Board of Directors, presented the Universal Human Values and Rights Manifesto at the online meeting of the Association of African and Asian Universities (AAU). The association, composed of over 200 universities, unanimously accepted and supported the manifesto during the meeting.

The Manifesto highlights the weakening belief in human rights today and calls for the reaffirmation of fundamental human rights, human dignity and worth, and the equal rights of men and women and of all nations, large and small.

Prof. Dr. İlham Miraç stated that he was very pleased that the Association of African and Asian Universities and its member universities unanimously supported the manifesto, adding that this support provided significant momentum to the manifesto:

“AAU's support gave significant momentum to the manifesto. AAU Secretary-General Prof. Dr. Ashraf Abd ElRafai and former Somali Deputy Prime Minister and AAU Assistant Secretary-General Prof. Dr. Ridwan Hersi M. General delivered speeches supporting the manifesto.”

Miraç noted that the manifesto encourages universities and individuals worldwide to support and sign it as a demonstration of commitment to human rights and human values, and invited everyone to sign the manifesto.
