Üsküdar University Institute of Sufi Studies organized a seminar titled “Accreditation and Quality Management in Higher Education.” Marmara University Lecturer Ayşe Hande Erol Bingüler was a guest speaker at the seminar. Erol Bingüler discussed quality assurance processes, the importance of student participation, and measurement and evaluation methods. The event also provided information about the YÖKAK Student Commission and touched upon Üsküdar University’s efforts to disseminate a culture of quality.
The seminar, held in classroom B-1-13, A Block, South Campus of Üsküdar University, was attended by students, academic and administrative staff of the institute, including Prof. Dr. Elif Erhan, Director of Üsküdar University Institute of Sufi Studies.
At the event, where Marmara University Lecturer Ayşe Hande Erol Bingüler was a guest, the concept of quality, quality assurance processes in higher education, and the importance of student participation were discussed. The second part of the program will be held on June 30.
Student Participation Takes Center Stage in Quality Assurance System
At the seminar, it was emphasized that student feedback, including opinions on courses and instructors, should be systematically collected and effectively utilized. It was highlighted that considering student complaints and suggestions is an integral part of quality processes. It was also stated that the measurement and evaluation methods used must be valid and reliable.
“Know Your Own University” Message
Lecturer Ayşe Hande Erol Bingüler, who called on participants to ‘Know your own university,’ emphasized the importance of understanding and internalizing quality assurance systems in higher education institutions. She pointed out that sharing the quality assurance efforts carried out at Üsküdar University with the public is a significant step towards transparency and institutional development.
YÖKAK Student Commission Introduced
Information was also provided at the seminar about the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) Student Commission. The commission, which encourages students to actively participate in quality assurance efforts, leads student-involved projects at national and international levels. It was also stated that proposing candidates for student evaluators to serve on YÖKAK evaluation teams is part of this process.
Üsküdar University Spreading Quality Culture
At the end of the seminar, the importance Üsküdar University places on quality was emphasized. It was stated that the seminars and training sessions organized within the university contribute to disseminating a culture of quality among students.
