A Qatar Initiative from Üsküdar in Social Contribution Diplomacy

Üsküdar University held high-level institutional contacts in Qatar, in line with its vision to strengthen international collaborations focused on social contribution and social innovation. Within the scope of the visit program conducted by Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine and the Social Contribution Coordination Office, important discussions were held regarding strategic collaborations in science, culture, entrepreneurship, and social impact.

Within the framework of the visit; high-level institutional contacts were established with Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), Qatar University, Doha Yunus Emre Institute, and Khalifa Hammad University. During the meetings, concrete steps were discussed for the implementation of next-generation and impact-oriented projects on the Türkiye-Qatar axis.

International next-generation innovation and impact projects discussed with QSTP

During the meeting held with QSTP senior executives, Türkiye-Qatar cooperation within the scope of “International Next-Generation Innovation and Impact” projects was put on the table. In these projects;

- Supporting next-generation young entrepreneurs,

- Developing innovative initiatives focused on social impact,

- Common working areas were evaluated in line with the goals of creating a next-generation impact platform on a global scale.

It is foreseen that the projects planned in cooperation with QSTP will create a common ground for production and impact in sustainable development areas, in alignment with Qatar Vision 2030 goals.

A next-generation social impact bridge between universities!

During the meeting with Assoc. Prof. Selçuk Koca at Qatar University, joint academic and applied projects in the fields of youth studies and social innovation were discussed.

In contacts made with the participation of Nadir Yıldırım at Khalifa Hammad University, joint inter-university workshops and social contribution-based entrepreneurship projects were put on the agenda.

Integration of next-generation youth entrepreneurship ecosystem with QFC

During the meeting with Utku Üstündağ, representative of Qatar Financial Centre, cooperation perspectives on social impact investments, entrepreneurship support mechanisms, and access to global fund networks were evaluated. 

Cultural diplomacy and institutional contacts realized

During the meeting with Enver Gedik, President of Doha Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, next-generation social innovation projects focusing on cultural heritage, art, and social inclusion were evaluated. Joint project opportunities aimed at increasing intercultural interaction and strengthening social harmony were discussed.

Within the scope of contacts made at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Qatar, during the meeting with Sinem Eğlenen, Commercial Attaché of the Qatar Embassy, the integration of Türkiye-Qatar next-generation entrepreneurship ecosystems and the commercial sustainability of social impact projects were discussed. Strategic evaluations were particularly made regarding connecting next-generation social innovation projects with Qatar grant funds.

During the iftar program organized for academics, Turkish Ambassador to Qatar Mustafa Göksu was met, and views were exchanged on supporting cultural interaction and social contribution projects between the two countries at an institutional level. This contact at the Embassy was also considered an important step in strengthening the ongoing projects on a diplomatic platform.

- Mücahid Sayman, President of MÜSİAD Qatar,

- Dr. Ayhan Özşahin, Social Contribution Unit Representative of Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine,

- Kaan Özşahin, Youth Board Member of Young Brains Academy, contributed to establishing a strong bridge on the Türkiye-Qatar civil society and next-generation entrepreneurship axis.

Strategic step towards global social innovation ecosystem

The meetings held were considered an important stage towards building a multi-stakeholder model in Qatar on the axis of academia-industry-civil society-culture-diplomacy. These contacts, aiming to carry Türkiye-Qatar cooperation to a new dimension, strengthened Üsküdar University's social contribution vision on an international scale.

Furthermore, a strong institutional and diplomatic ground was created for projects based on scientific production, social impact, cultural diplomacy, and sustainable development.
