A greater threat than territorial occupation: Mental occupation

Üsküdar University Founding Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan attended the ‘High Advisory Board Meeting’ organized twice a year by the Istanbul Family Foundation. Emphasizing that the Family Foundation's work is strategically Turkey's most important issue, Tarhan spoke about a serious civilization crisis being experienced in the civilization geography as an Islamic civilization. Tarhan drew attention to the fact that mental occupation is a greater threat than territorial occupation.

At the meeting held at the Family Foundation Headquarters, Tarhan pointed out that the number of 5-person households in Turkey is rapidly decreasing, while the number of single-person households is rapidly increasing.

“There is a project against our civilization through women”

Tarhan, emphasizing that a project is being carried out against our civilization through women, stated that biologically women and men are different, but equal in terms of rights and opportunities. In this context, Tarhan highlighted that he authored the book ‘Kadın Psikolojisi’ (Women's Psychology), which makes evaluations on this topic, and stated that this book is referenced by many institutions and organizations in this field.

Tarhan, drawing attention to the Istanbul Convention debates in 2020, added that Üsküdar University Family Working Group published a 10-item “Family Manifesto”.

A greater threat than territorial occupation: Mental occupation

Underlining that a serious civilization crisis is currently being experienced, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said; “As an Islamic civilization, we are experiencing a serious civilization crisis in our civilization geography. The threat currently comes from Cultural Imperialism, and this is a voluntary imperialism... The entirety of value judgments that form society, and these value judgments of ours, are severely decaying and being damaged. There is a greater threat than territorial occupation, a mental occupation... It's such a threat, like a cunning, slow virus. Currently, our civilization is decaying, and we are not aware of it. Of course, we are aware of the civilization crisis because we are in the field, we see the situation of families.”

“In 10-20 years, we could be like Sweden, Norway”

Tarhan pointed out that there was a 54.8% increase in divorce rates between 2001 and 2018, an increase in the number of single-person households, and an increase in household fragility, stating that globally, the rate of children born out of wedlock is currently increasing. Tarhan said, “The rate of children born out of wedlock is 2.09% in Turkey, 54% in Sweden, 56% in Norway, 59% in France, and 47% in England. In France, the identities of children born have ‘parent 1’ and ‘parent 2’ written. They cannot write ‘mother’ because they cannot provide maternal affection. The number of children growing up with a single parent is excessive. They give more importance to genderlessness. They say, ‘We have the right to say no because it is not genetic.’ Because they are imposing a genderless society.” He used these expressions.

“Gender is one thing, biological sex is another”

Stating that mating is biological but marriage is cultural, Tarhan said, “Sexual identity also occurs through sociocultural learning. For example; samurais went to their wives to have children. Later, they met their needs with their own gender. They did this socio-culturally. This is wrong in our culture. This happened during the time of Prophet Lot. Before Prophet Noah, incest and unmarried relationships were very common. It is considered right in Western culture.”

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan stated that they have worked on a book titled 'The Destructive Effects of Transgender Ideology' published by Üsküdar University Publications;
